fromfaraway Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hello guys, I have always found it quite nice to interact in this forum, either by giving advice or receiving it. I was wondering what you guys would make of this story. I live in the US, in the North East to be specific. Two years ago, I went to Boston and stayed in a hostel for a night. While there I stayed in a hostel for one night. In the waiting room I met a girl from New Zealand. We chatted a bit, and she told me that some people staying in the hostel are going out so I joined them. While we were out, we started talking more. We ended up kissing. She told me that she really liked me. We went back, all of us, and stayed up all night and had a wonderful time just chatting. In the room she put her head against my lap, and while talking to others, I kept touching her back very gently (not sexual.) She told me that I made her feel very happy that night, by making her laugh and touching her, etc. I kissed her good night at 6 am, and went back to my room. I saw her the next morning, and we kissed again. I told her that it is too bad I have to leave and that I will not see her again. She said " I will come to meet you." I thought to myself that she was just saying that in the heat of the moment. We exchanged one friendly email (back and forth) soon afterwards, and we never talked again. Now, two years later, she sent me en email out of the blue sky to ask me out to coffee. She will be visiting her mother who moved to Canada, and will come to meet me in the USA. When I replied she said she was very happy that I still remeber her. She still lives in New Zealand. I am actually quite surprised. People usually do not go to a foreign country just to have coffee with someone :-) Anyhow, I actually do like this girl. She is very lovely, very sweet, compassionate, and we did have a connection. I wonder whether she is asking me out on a date or she just want to hang out as friends? What do you guys make out of this story? Thank you very much for the feedback!
Citizen Erased Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Okay first things first. Can she pronounce the word chips correctly? If not, run. Now.
zenith Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Okay first things first. Can she pronounce the word chips correctly? If not, run. Now. people in NZ don't speak with Australian accent... unless you're an aussie and then YOU can't pronounce words properly... cheeeeps LOL
Dumbledore Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Two years ago, I went to Boston and stayed in a hostel for a night. While there I stayed in a hostel for one night. Is that one night, or two? Was it the same hostel for both nights? Anyway, this is a sweet story. New Zealand is a very pretty country, despite being overrun with sheep. You should return the favour by going to visit her - you are bound to have a great time in the Land of the Long White Cloud.
zenith Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 New Zealand is a very pretty country, despite being overrun with sheep haha another Australian! unfortunately more sheep in OZ than NZ! I thunk you mean chups. I was trying to speak like an aussie feeeesh and cheeeeps
Citizen Erased Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 people in NZ don't speak with Australian accent... unless you're an aussie and then YOU can't pronounce words properly... cheeeeps LOL Um I am Aussie and Kiwis say chups. That was my point. Chups is annoying. Other than that they are cool. We may have more sheep but perhaps that's because we don't try to breed with them ourselves. BURN.
Dumbledore Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 unfortunately more sheep in OZ than NZ! Actually, I have heard that on the South Island, there are 13 sheep for every person. No wonder they don't want to leave.
Citizen Erased Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 haha another Australian! unfortunately more sheep in OZ than NZ! I was trying to speak like an aussie feeeesh and cheeeeps Are you trying to say we are all asian?
Touche Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 And they call we Americans strange! (I have NO idea what you people are talking about.) Anyway, Far just go and enjoy yourself. Why put a label on it? See where it goes.
zenith Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Actually, I have heard that on the South Island, there are 13 sheep for every person. yeah, South Island is basically a large dairy farm.. just like how Australia is a large zoo Are you trying to say we are all asian? do Asians speak like that? I wouldn't know... but I know that Aussies sound like that though... eeesn't theees roight?
zenith Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 And they call we Americans strange! (I have NO idea what you people are talking about.) Anyway, Far just go and enjoy yourself. Why put a label on it? See where it goes. no, mate... nothing wrong with Americans OP, don't think too much into it! just go and have fun PS. only bad thing about NZ is that it's too close to Australia!
johan Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Um I am Aussie and Kiwis say chups. That was my point. Chups is annoying. Other than that they are cool. We may have more sheep but perhaps that's because we don't try to breed with them ourselves. BURN. At least you don't have to share a border with them.

Citizen Erased Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 At least you don't have to share a border with them. :lmao: At least we can be content that in the eyes of the world we are the better country. Just like no-one says their ideal holiday spot is Ottawa or Toronto, don't see them clamouring for Wellington or Auckland either.

I was in Newcastle and Sydney last summer and it was great and yeah sure, if it makes you feel better, Australia is the better country... just the people are annoying Of course. NZ is actually very beautiful, I'm just stirring you. I can see how you would have the impression about the people, Sydneysiders are jerks. Anyway sorry OP not so sure this was what you were expecting in replies...
Author fromfaraway Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 ohhhh, boy...I did not expect a culture war with this thread.... can we go back to the topic of the thread, pliz For clarification, I stayed in the aforementioned hostel for a singal night... fromfaraway
LikeCharlotte Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 *bows* I think you should enjoy this. I'm going to visit NZ soonish to visit someone I met in a similar way. Feel free to dig through my posts and read. I don't know much but I'd be glad to give you whatever advice I can. It could be great and I think it's wonderful that someone would go so far just to see you! Have fun and see where it takes you - maybe half way across the world . That's never bad.
Author fromfaraway Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Thank you very much, LikeCharlotte, for the feedback. I did read some of your posts and it is interesting that your guy, too, is in NZ. The only difference is that we are not in a relationship and there have been two years between our initial contact and now. I did not have a relationship for the past two years, although opportunities were plenty. I just did not find a girl I could really connect with and I did quite bit of moving, so did not get a chance to really in one place. Anyhow, back in the day, she told me that she would like to pursue something with me and that she will come to see me, one day. She told me I really made her happy and that she rarely finds a guy she truly connects with. She seemed very happy I still remeber her (she said that) and her emails were full of smily faces and questions about what I am up to.
Dumbledore Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I think it's wonderful that someone would go so far just to see you! It sure is beautiful stuff. She's come a long, long way, and I've been thinking that the least he can do on his part is to make up the last eight to ten inches of the journey. This story seems bound to have a happy ending.
Storyrider Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Or at least a happy beginning. Building it up too much at this point might cause a let down. Best to just enjoy things as they come.
