[sorry if this has been done before, but I couldn't find anything]

On the advice of someone in this forum (I forget who, sorry!), I've been writing every day how I've been getting on, thoughts I've had, revelations etc so I can track my progress (and maybe write a novel and be a millionaire... ok one step at a time...!)

One thing I've been doing with that is jotting down the best, funniest, most comforting, most thought provoking pieces of advice, metaphors, analogies, anecdotes I've had. Thought it might be cool if everyone posted their favourites in here, kind of like a library, so we can come in here when we're having a low moment and there's no-one around to help, and have a good chuckle or regain some control.

So, without further ado, this one comes from my best friend who's imagination knows no bounds...(!)

What a good idea!

Well, when I am sad about my ex I usually watch Swingers. I know it is a guy movie, but it really helps me feel better.

Here is a excerpt from the film that made a lot of sense to me:

Rob: You don't look at the things that you have, you only look at the stuff that you don't have. Those guys are right about you - you're money.

Mike: Then why won't she call?

Rob: She won't call because you left. she's got her own life to deal with, man, and that's in New York... alright? And she's a sweet girl, and I love her to pieces, but **** her, man. You gotta get on with your life. You gotta let go of the past. And Mikey, when you do, I'm telling you: the future is beautiful, alright? Look out the window. It's sunny every day here. It's like manifest destiny. Don't tell me we didn't make it. We made it! We are here. And everything that is past is prologued to this. All of the **** that didn't kill us is only - you know, all that ****. You're gonna get over it.

Mike: How did you get over it? I mean, how long did it take?

Rob: Sometimes it still hurts. You know how it is, man. It's like, you wake up every day and it hurts a little bit less, and then you wake up one day and it doesn't hurt at all. And the funny thing is, is that, this is kinda wierd, but it's like, it's like you almost miss that pain.

Mike: You miss the pain?

Rob: Yeah, for the same reason that you missed her... because you lived with it for so long.

With the exception of the first two, these are just some movie quotes that make me smile, now i wanna go watch a lot of movies lol :p

What Dreams May Come

What some folks call impossible, is just stuff they haven't seen before.

It's not about understanding... it's about *not* giving up!

Foxfire

Maddy: Where do you live?

Legs: Mostly in my head.

The House of Yes

Marty: Are you being wise?

Jackie-O: One day I woke up wise.

Marty: One day I woke up stupid.

Jackie-O: What'd you do?

Marty: I went back to bed.

Jackie-O: That was wise.

Pi

Max: When I was a little kid, my mother told me not to stare into the sun, so when I was six I did...

Sol: This is insanity, Max.

Max: Or maybe it's genius.

Lilo & Stitch

Stitch: Aloha!

Gantu: Ah! You're vile; you're foul; you're flawed!

Stitch: Also cute and fluffy!

Lilo: [pulls a strange looking rag doll from her backpack] This is Scrump.

[other girls gasp in horror]

I made her. But her head is too big, so I pretended that a bug laid eggs in her ear, and she's upset because she has only a few more days to...

and last but not least, the best way to break up with someone:

American Psycho

Patrick Bateman: I think, um, Evelyn that, uh, we've lost touch.

Evelyn Williams: Why? What's wrong?

Patrick Bateman: I need to engage in homicidal behaviour on a massive scale can not be corrected but, uh, I have no other way to fulfill my needs.
