pushforward Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Could you post more information about this book and in what way this has helped you? Thanks,
Author openbook08 Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 sure!sorry that makes sense i think i just got a bit carried away after reading it! firstoff, i liked the layout, the very first page says "when an emotional injury takes place, the body begins a process as natural as the healing of a physical wound. let the process happen.trust the process.surrender to it" its very positive from the beginning with none of the usual 'better to have loved and lost than never loved at all' stuff that i cant stomach it begins with 'understanding loss', under the headings - obvious losses, not so obvious losses, loss related to age, limbo losses, inevitable losses, other losses, what loss feels like, the stages of recovery- and then, 94 ways we survive!! including headings such as 'its ok to make silly mistakes', 'its ok to go through the motions in slow motion', 'find others who have survived a similar loss' (hello LS!!), 'sundays are the worst', 'mementoes', 'sleep patterns may change', 'anniversaries', 'your happiness is up to you' and 'celebrate'! all these run on the left hand side pages of the book, on the right side is small poems written as the author goes through loss eg "to give you up. God! what bell of freedom that rings within me. no more waiting for letters phone calls post cards that never came. no more creative energy wasted in letters never mailed. and, after awhile, no more insomnia, no more insanity. some more happiness, some more life. all it took was giving you up. and that took quite a bit." its not that its jampacked with methods on how to cope or anything like that, its quite quick and fast paced. i dunno, im not a very good book reviewer i guess maybe if you try amazon youll get a more analytical review!
