My New Years resolution is to learn how to dance. Even if I can't learn to enjoy it (as my previous attempts would suggest), it seems like an important social grace for every man for corporate events and weddings if nothing else. But I do hope to learn to "let go" and enjoy it.

That being said, I don't know what kind of dance classes I should look for. My movements have been described to me as very "wooden" and I have difficulty even clapping along to a beat, so it would have to be something fairly simple. And obviously, I'd like it to be functional.

Any suggestions?

Focus on the kind of music you like best, and work on that.

or go to a dance club that teaches different styles, find out which one you're most drawn to, and go for it.

Also, enrol in a keep fit class. it will help you limber up, loosen up and become used to moving your body.
