I am in love with my highschool boyfriend.

we broke up 8 years ago, but i cant stop thinking about him and wondering how he is doing. i hear about him every now and then. he lives close by and we have mutual friends.

i told myself to leave him alone but ive been having dreams about him for the past year that we are back together and very happy and in love.

our relationship started when i was 14 and we dated for 4 years off and on.

we had a very dynamic relationship for such young people. we had an incredible, otherworldly connection.

ive never felt that close to anyone else.

why am i dreaming about him? is it rediculous to try to contact him?

You could contact him if you like...maybe over a common source if ya'll both have it such as Myspace or Facebook...that seems to be less stressful. But don't be suprised if he has a life of his own now such as a steady gf, fiance, or even marriage.

You're in love with the image you have of your former boyfriend.

People change. Besides, didn't you break off once already?

Perhaps go out a couple of times before letting yourself have such "feelings" for him.

I had a friend who just went through this.

Honestly, she was lonely and hadnt met anyone else in quite a while and it was almost a last ditch effort to just have someone. She went out with him and talked for about a week 8 years after HS and then realized why he wasnt the one back then. And then she felt like a jerk all over again for wasting his time and getting his hopes up, and then had to have the whole 'talk' with him all over.

Tread lightly, it could be what Joe said, youre in love with what you think he was. There was probably a reason it didnt work out before. Im not saying people never change and it couldnt be different, but that would be the exception and not the rule.
