Queequeg Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Okay, I am an early twenties high school graduate, with no college background. I am very good with computers, and a fast learner. I am essentially looking for an admin/office job. Something with better pay so I can move out of my Mom's basement. The people I've asked have told me to "apply everywhere", which is confusing to me because there are so many different offices, and I would have to drop resumes off by hand. I've been to an employment foundation, where I was advised that "connections" are the key to finding a new job. Problem is, I don't have said connections. I'm not very social. My only connection is that my boyfriend goes around to a bunch of different offices for his work, but he hasn't worked up the nerve to ask if anyone's hiring. Would this be inappropriate for him to do anyway? I get so frustrated with this stuff I just don't do anything. After all, I do have a job that I like, but the hours and pay are crap. I would really just like to make more money and flee the nest. Also, develop some office skills. I'm unsure about school right now, although I think I will eventually have to take something.
coolindian27 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Why don't you post your resume in websites like monster? Also, search for job ads in craigslist. By the way, because of the economy slowdown, getting a new job is difficult these days.
Author Queequeg Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Yeah, the economy certainly doesn't help anything either. The internet thing would work except I live in a smaller town that doesn't even have it's own craigslist. Internet job boards are minimal around here. I frequently check the ones I know of, and have posted my resume but nothing has come up yet.
