tincanman99 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I am overhauling my casual wardrobe under the advice of my assistant and some women at work. She has said that I dont have the right look and that if I want to attract women I have to dress nice. I never have a problem at work (I work in NYC and NJ) - NYC is purely suits and I have all good ones (Armani, Zegna, Brooks, etc...) but my casual wardrobe is a mess per my assistant . Very disconnected look she says. Not fashionable enough and just too casual. I am not over weight if that makes a difference. She advocates that I copy Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Claiborne, etc. All of that ilk. What do women think of this look? I am not talking about just the jeans, but rather the flat front casual pants with the button down shirts or sweaters, etc... Here is an idea of what my assistant said I should buy (she has offered to go shopping on my behalf for my casual clothes). http://www.calvinklein.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3172031 http://www.calvinklein.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3142692&view=all I would like to hear opinions. As I said suits are easy but I just dont have an eye for this stuff.
laRubiaBonita Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 i think those examples look like prep schools boys. Boys being the key word. i guess it's just not my style, but then again i do not claim, or pretend to claim i have a style- if it fits i wear it basically
xpaperxcutx Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Think Christian Bale from American Psycho. You need the suits for work, but also casual clothing for outside occasions.
PrincessPeach Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 If you think you need help picking out casual wear... you're probably right. But I'd go out and do it with someone. That way you get the help you need, but you can better decide the specific sorts of things you like or don't like. So that you still have a bit of your own touch to your new look.
Author tincanman99 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Oh she was very willing to go with me. She offered to go and said she loves shopping and will make me look great. She is very stylish and has great taste (and is also great at her job). I have the suits for work . Its the outside work that is a problem.

That, or she wants a raise.
movingonandon Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I personally wouldn't take any fashion advice from any women. Just buy a bunch of staples, and mix and match. No fancy stuff (which includes calvin klein). When in doubt, do as JFK did (plenty of great casual looks from this guy). And I disagree that suits are easy. Very few people in the US wear properly fitting suits. More importantly, you can wear a suit both dressed up and casual, depending on what you wear it with/without.
BlueHarvest Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Yuck. I'm a guy but those CK clothes reek of overused tones and cuts. Wear them...if you want to look like every other tom, dick, and harry.
EYECANDY000 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Wear nice jeans and button up shirts. Can't go wrong with that
