Clark Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hello everyone. I went on a date with a girl I really like yesterday. We had a great time, always laughing, convo never got dull, comfortable cozy silences. I'm unsure if she likes me though or just viewed it as a friends hanging out situation. I want to ask her to a second date soon (this week or next week maybe) as she actually asked me on this one yesterday. I'm not really sure what to do though, as I haven't really gone on many dates before. If anyone has any suggestions that would help a lot
prettybaby Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Is this someone you already knew before or just met? I always look at dates as a ladder; always upgrade the next date. If you started out with a lunch date, make the next date dinner, then the next date movie+dinner, etc. Those are just examples though, there are way more options than that. In any case, I would try to gradually move from casual to obvious romantic dating setting.
carhill Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 OP, I've always found that selecting venues where "getting to know each other" and the attendant communication was facilitated worked best. For example, you could select a relatively mid-range local restaurant for a dinner date where you could "own" the table for as long as you wanted (no rush). Call her up; ask her to join you for dinner on a Friday or Saturday night. Solicit her input on the type of cuisine she enjoys. Offer suggestions. Use positive statements. Don't mention the word "date". You two are going out to dinner
xpaperxcutx Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Take her out to do something inconspicuous. Like a a jazz club that includes swing dancing, or a salsa party. Just make sure the activity doesn't have too much sitting around.

I'm not really sure what to do though, as I haven't really gone on many dates before. If anyone has any suggestions that would help a lot Did she ask you out as a "friends hanging out" type of thing, or did she officially ask you to go on a date? How did it end up? Was there a kiss goodbye? Lingering glances? Flirty smiles? If she viewed it as just "hanging out", I really wouldn't put your heart and soul into the next "hanging out" until you know whether it's a "date" or not, you know? BUT to keep it light, do you have any adult gaming facilities around you? A place you can go to play arcade games or carnival type games and bumper cars or laser tag? See, going to one of those places can be construed as "just hanging out" OR a "date". However I would seriously see where she stands by the end of the second "date". I hope I didn't ramble on too much and you understood all that. LOL
Perry Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 What does SHE want to do? What does SHE like to do for fun? Ask her.

Isolde Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 If you REALLY like her, ask her to go ice skating with you. It could be very interesting. Besides, it is a good idea for winter. Worst thing is she says she doesn't like skating and you can do something more conventional.
Author Clark Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Thanks for the replies I've known her for a few years, but we only really got close this year (last year now). Our outing was a movie + lunch / just hanging out at the mall. I'm not really that good at reading body language but there was lingering glances and flirty smiles, especially at the end. No goodbye kiss though Ice skating would be nice indeed, except its summer here in the southern hemisphere, and also I am really bad at it That jazz idea sounds good, theres a good jazz place I like to go to that we could go. Theres no dancing unfortunately We were going to go to a swing place to dance earlier on, but we weren't able to get tickets and now its closed for a few months. Perhaps I should just ask her to the jazz place then? We both like that sort of music. Oh and I am 18 and she is 17 so I understand that cuts out a lot of good potential ideas.
