Eweezy Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Everytime I go on the treadmill to get my run on why is it that the women leave once I go on or wait until I leave to go on the treadmills next to me. I'am a white guy 6'2, 200lbs, and smell good why do they run away lol.
runner Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 this is assuming that their actions are reliant on yours - and you know this how ?

Author Eweezy Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 You're right, but it happens too often to be a coincidence.
kashmir Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Considering most women spend maybe only 15 minutes WALKING on the treadmill, I'd say the chance that they're a minute or two away from being done when you get on isn't bad.
bozwa Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Do you wear underwear? Are you wearing short shorts with knee socks? I don't know. lol
Kamille Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I'm guessing it's the amount of time women spend on thread mills in general (I can hardly stand to be on one for 20 minutes) Why not try the elliptical to see if the coincidence keeps happening?
norajane Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Maybe they don't want you watching their boobs bounce.
Author Eweezy Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Bozwa, I make sure I wear underwear anywhere I go lol. It would be funny if I had the russel simmons thing going. Kasmir you are right, but why would they wait till i'am done to get on it when they are other treadmills in the gym. The elliptical is brutal for me i'am in pretty good shape as it is. Nora I maybe take a few glances, but does that make me a bad guy lol. Well I think I overanalyzed this way too much, but it just seems weird.
Miss K Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I just don't want to be near anyone while I'm sweating profusely! I tend to wait until I can have a treadmill away from most people as I don't want to have any distractions from my workout. And I sweat a lot, which was once a conversation starter...

OP sometimes women are self-consious, if I go to the gym and there's a cute fella next to me I'll smile but I tend to shy away after that because I feel sweaty and yucky.

I always got the vibe that gym women were really pretentious...you know, the attitude of, "This is my ME time" and being pissy with everyone. Granted, when I go to the gym I don't talk with anyone...just put my ipod on and get to work, but even if I happen to take a look around and see a girl she'll have this pus on her face.

Well I can't speak for all women but when I go to the gym, I go with friends so my mindset is focused on working out and being there with them. I am usually in a t-shirt and sweats but if the girl is all glammed up with tight revealing clothing and has the "pus" on her face and bitchy with everyone, then I totally agree with you. But I've seen men too who have the same pus on their face and they're in tight gym clothing with the "look at me I'm a macho man", they could be really nice and down to earth underneath it but we wouldn't know unless we went up and talked to them. I guess you could always say something like "wow, your butt cheeks look really firm like mine" and then go from there
RichGuy Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 That's funny, I get annoyed at the exact opposite situation: I'm at the LA Fitness really early on Saturday, and there's like tons of tmills open, yet this blondie wants the machine right next to mine!! I was a bit annoyed since I'm a territorial guy; if this was the urinals I'd be pissing on her shoes. So I just grabbed my Nalgene bottle and accidentally splash some protein shake her way..... She was furious! Hahahaha!!!!
nicki Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Aw, she must have wanted you, Richguy. My problem is guys get on the treadmill next to me when all the other ones are open, and then they don't even LOOK at me. Makes me wonder why they choose that one if they aren't going to even try to say hi. Guess they simply want some company while they work out. To the OP, I might be ready to leave in a few minutes anyway, but if a guy gets on the treadmill next to me, I'll often leave right then and there to give him some space.
MN randomguy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 The gym bothers me. I think the gym should in theory be the best place to meet women. However, its all business. Maybe if I went to the same classes all of the time? I think I need a wing-woman to go to the gym with me. Anyone ever see anything about the gym in Colorado, http://www.theantigym.com Their ads pretty much tell the story. ROTFL
Author Eweezy Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Most women in the gym are outgoing and social at the gym, but it seems like they want to cut the conversation short maybe because they are self conscious like the other person said of them being sweaty, but who knows.
CandyGirlXO Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I don't think I have done this before on the threadmill.... but I have on other gym equipment. A lot of women including me get uncomfortable working out infront of guys. Either that or you stink
SoulSearch_CO Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 It's possible they're just self-conscious. Not having a single thing to do with you being YOU, but you being a guy. I always felt weird trying to work out at a gym with a bunch of guys around. Why do you think Curves (a gym exclusively for women) is so popular?

I always thought Curves was for the fat out-of-shape BBWs who didn't want to be laughed at by the hot women (the so-called gym bunnies). Is it really about the men????

Is it really about the men???? Yeah. Guys like you and OP oggle their goodies so much it makes them uncomfortable. Who'd want to work out next to a creep like that?
Author Eweezy Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Zenith, guys would be lying if they said they didn't look at any of the females at their gym. If you haven't noticed when you workout it boosts your testosterone that alone will increase attraction. Women would also be lying if they said they don't look at the guys there either.
Enema Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 The worst thing about the treadmill for me is how much I sweat. I am a crazily sweaty man. Very fit, but I sweat like I just hopped out of the shower. I run pretty fast too, so sweat flies / drips off my elbows as I run. By the time I'm finished my run, I have to wipe down the floor!
RichGuy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Yeah. Guys like you and OP oggle their goodies so much it makes them uncomfortable. Who'd want to work out next to a creep like that? Are you really that ashamed of your body? The girls in my gym walk around rather proudly. But then again, it's a self-selected pool. That'd be a good first-date proxy question: "so, sweetie, would you rather join a mixed sex gym or Curves?". I'm throwing it right next to my "how often do you have sushi?" question.
