Knight_Ctrl Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Alright guys heres the story. This girl use to come into my place of work before she got hired here. We would flirt up a storm and I always thought shes freaking beautiful. Fast forward three years later and she too is now working with me, I am now her supervisor. I have just recently gotten out of a serious relationship and have no interest in anything real serious. But this girl I work with and I talk every day and occasionally go out and do things. I think it is pretty obvious we like each other but as I've said to be fair to her I just want to keep things simple for now, and she agrees with me. She seems to have a problem with us maybe being together eventually because we are co-workers. I told her normally I would agree to this except for a few reasons. 1. We were interested in each other before we worked together (I gave her my number but she never called until she got to know me better when we started working with each other. Shes shy) 2. When I turn 21 I'm getting a job at a different place, that I will be doing more as a career rather than this job at a library I've been doing since I was 16. This isn't really a serious job setting either. 3. I also don't really care about working here as it is lol, its amazing how much you can slack off at a job like mine. Like I said though, were just two people who like to talk a lot and spend time together have lots in common and get along great. But what do you guys think about co-workers dating.
RichGuy Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 **** her, then immediately fire her the next day or risk sexual harassment suit if you delay even another day. Women always want their bosses, it's a primal thing. The ****-and-fire pattern lets you have your cake and eat it too... It happens more often than you'd guess.

Normally this would be the type of thing I'd consider. Cept shes genuinely a great person and I don't want her all pissed off at me. I think we'd work out if we got together, its just a matter of keeping things simply right now until were both ready. No rush anyway I really enjoy being her friend right now.
youngandhopeful Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Ive worked in two places and had romances with girls from both jobs. As long as the relationship doesnt effect work, then your boss shouldnt have a problem with it. Unless it states somewhere in your contract that it isnt allowed :S Be aware though, that it can cause friction if all doesnt work out. That said, i never had any problems, so its your call
saturnfell Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Rule #1: Never, under any circumstance, date someone you work with.
Author Knight_Ctrl Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 normally I would agree with not dating someone I work with. Except for now this is just a way I make money, its not going to be my lifetime career or anything. Even if things managed to move fast enough before I quit here in august or something I don't think im capable of caring that fast enough to have a problem if things didnt work out.
CBR_pilot Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Since you are technically her boss, I would definitely be very careful. Don't do anything that could get you into legal trouble. Just be her friend until you do leave this job.
