annieo Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Hi all. Feeling kind of down, due to the fact that my daughter and son are spending Christmas with their dad this year. We've been divorced for 7 years, so holidays apart aren't new, but for some reason it's hitting me pretty hard this year. Tried to shake it off with lots of wine and grown up fun with my h last night, but the blues are creeping back. It'll just be the two of us at the table tonight, and I'm making the whole turkey/stuffing/Christmas pudding meal, but my heart is just not in it. Anybody else going though this? If so, any tips on making it less sad?
kizik Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Well, I am completely alone this Xmas. So, it can always be worse. But I feel your pain about missing your kids. Things get better with time. I guarantee you that your next Christmas will be wildly different. After all, a year is a long time.
Author annieo Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 Sorry to hear you're on your own. And believe me, I have had many moments in the last 24 hours where I've told myself to snap out of it and count my blessings. I'm basically in "just get through" today mode, however. Somehow Christmas and all of those long-held expectations for a special day are niggling at me. So how are spending the day?
kizik Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 I am also in "get through" mode. I'm doing it with some NBA on ABC, DVDs, and W-E-E-D.
Author annieo Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 Hear ya. Although my poison of choice is made of grapes and comes in a bottle. My second favourite is a legal leaf you can buy at the store. Oh, and there's always LS. Merry Christmas kizit (did I spell that right?)!
EmperorR Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 also alone, just been watching movies and the nba, guess its better to be alone than not
kizik Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Good to meet you annieo, it's all about keeping it in perspective. I could be dying under a bridge somewhere... or have a broken leg... or both. Life can always get worse, and we have to just be grateful for what we have.
Author annieo Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 Agreed, it could always be worse and undoubtably one day will be. See where my head's at? Up my ass, probably, not a pretty place to be. Thanks for taking the time to reply. It helped - I'm not the only person who feels tepid, not jolly and warm. Nice meeting you, too, kizik. Have a puff of some sweet leaf for me and merry christmas to you. It's almost over (6 more hours) then back to normal.
