samsam82 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I've been talking to this guy who's on EZ Match Up, and he seems really nice. We've been talk for about six months now, and with New Years coming up he asked me to join him at some fancy party he's attending. This would be our first meeting. What should I do? HELP!
Ronni_W Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Sounds like it will be fun -- after 6 months of contact, what has you feeling uncertain about meeting him? I'm not sure who told me this advice, but it feels like it's my turn to "pass it forward": Wear clean undies and make sure you have enough money for a cab ride home. Happy Holidays, and enjoy the New Year's Eve party!

Do you live in the same city? If it were me, I likely wouldn't want the first 'meet' to be on New Year's eve at some venue where the guy would likely know others and I'd know nobody, I'd find it very awkward.....and what if the guy turned out to be a freak or something? People can seem 'normal' when chatting online but can be totally different in person. If it were me, I'd be suggesting to him that we grab a coffee or drink sometime before New Year's eve, but that's just me.

I definitely think you should meet up if you have a good online connection, but possibly a coffee or something one-on-one (in a public place) is the best first meeting. I've done a bit of online dating, and sometimes I've found people great online and in person there is no connection or they are downright weird. I'd suggest to him you meet up beforehand and then make up your mind about NYE. Ammy
