xjadex Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 We are fairly long distance and we have dated once and three weeks ago. Since then we have kept in contact by phone and pc. He always initiates the contact and will text and say he's thinking of me. He will call, say he wanted to hear my voice and misses my voice and spends over an hour chatting to me. He will call, numerous times a week. He says he really wants to see me again and talks about what we will do, were we will go and when we next meet. He said we'd meet before Christmas....that hasn't and isn't likely to happen. It seems to me, that he appears to be in no hurry to meet, for when I ask him when he's coming to see me, he will merely say, 'soon'. But he's been saying 'soon' for three weeks!!!! He says he is short of cash at the moment and that he has a new flat that needs decorating. This is true, I do know that he was made redundant from his job and recently. However, he still seems to be able to afford to top up his phone and put petrol in his car, go for a haircut, etc... When I confronted him and said 'I dont think you have any intention of coming back', he said 'Why would I say I wanted to see you, if I didn't'... I'm kinda left thinking that if this was a guy who was really into me and really wanted to see me, as he says he does.....he'd manage to get the money from somewhere surely? Do people really leave it weeks, if they really want to see someone?? I just think he's fobbing me off....but Im not understanding why hes calling, if he wants zilch to do with me/doesn't want to see me again????
moonshadow Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I guess it could go both ways? Have you made any suggestion to go and visit him? Why can't you agree to meet "half way" if money is tight for him? How did you originally meet him, on a dating site by chance? So just to make sure I understand; you have met ONCE so far in person, and that was 3 weeks ago?

So just to make sure I understand; you have met ONCE so far in person, and that was 3 weeks ago? I have a daughter so I can't just take off when I want too. Can't get a babysitter either, I live miles away from family and don't know anyone around here, that I would trust to watch her....I havn't lived here that long. Yep, met him on a site and we've met once in person, 3 weeks back, after 8 months of chatting by phone. Just seems odd to me, that he had no difficulty getting the money together to initially come and see me and he couldn't wait to get here.....yet he can't manage to get the money together now....and he lost his job two months ago, yet still managed to get here, 3 weeks ago.
Perry Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Who watches your child when you are working? He can't afford, what, $20, 40, 60 in gas to come see you???
xpaperxcutx Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 It does seem odd. Why don't you give him the benefit of the doubt this once, and make an alternative date? If he comes up with an excuse again that seems unsatisfactory you might have to write him off.

He maintains a regular and consistant contact, but appears not to be in a hurry to come back?? WTF?? He will say how much he liked me, how he can't wait to see me again, talks about what we will do when he gets here....but he dont seem to be motivating his a$$ to get here LOL! Best laugh is, I've even offered to pay half of the money, it costs to get here, so he has no excuse at all!!! It's making me think he aint that keen to see me again....but if he aint keen, why call and text? It doesn't cost a fortune, I mean he's only an hour away...
