Am I breaking the NC rule when she's the one that contacts me?

So she broke it off towards the end of the 1st week of December. Since then, I've been good about NC. Been laying off the social networking (facebook, myspace) sites and never even felt compelled to leave her voicemails or write long e-mails to her. Now every once and awhile (like last night, for example), she would IM asking about the status message I had on. So am I breaking the rules of NC if I'm just responding to short IM conversations that she started? And yeah it does kind of take a step back in the process of healing regardless. I just wish there was a way to make her appear invisible on list instead of deleting her entirely from Yahoo.

I'd rather give her the least amount of details as possible about how I'm coping and moving on with my life since she's not in it anymore anyway. Yet she feels compelled to tell me that she's been partying, etc, etc sometimes.

You're breaking NC by reading the IM :)

I know it's hard, but delete her AND block her. If you truly want to move on, then knowing what she is up to doesn't help.

Delete her and block her, if she has something important to say she knows your number And knows where you live.

Block and delete her from your IM program.

Go to the "Messenger" menu and click "Preferences." Highlight "Ignore List" under the heading "Category."

The answer is YES.

Listen to these guys, they all agree that you should delete her/block her. I know it is a hard thing to do, but she is setting you back after you hear about how she is partying and stuff. Think about how you feel after you hear from her. Does it hurt? Does it feel like the day she let you go?

NC works, but only if you stick to it and give it time. Many months in most cases.
