Before I post this I dont want to give false hope to all those who are following NC and are doing their best to get over their ex like I am. Anyway on hope: ""In The end Zeus he gives man hope. I'm sure its the exception to the rule though. I am also interested to see any more evidence of this.
lofi_tokyo Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I would say my own success story is: My first love left me for another woman. I went through a ton of pain, dealt with it, and healed. I never thought I could be attracted to another man, but today, I have found someone new, who is more compatible with me than my ex. That in itself is success, I got my second chance, not with the same guy, but I'm getting a second chance at a healthy relationship. As for a success story where a broken up couple gets back together and is happy for a long time? Here is one I know: One of my closest female friends dated a guy in high school for about 5 months. She went to Germany for a sporting competition for a few weeks, and while there, realized she just didn't like the guy that much. So she came home and broke things off. The guy never gave any huge indication of sadness, but apparently, he was deeply, deeply, hurt. As for my friend, well life went on. She dated a TON of guys, and never even thought twice about the ex in question. As for the guy... well he dated three woman, all of which were serious relationships, but apparently he always compared them to my friend. In any event, my friend and this ex kept in touch - maybe hanging out once ever six months, or once a year or so. My friend went to Austrailia for a year, had a ton of fun, got one e-mail from this ex while there. No biggie. When she came home, she dated a few other guys casually then one fine day.... she started hanging out with the ex more and more, until finally, they were a couple once again. They have now been dating over a year - maybe a year and a half? They live together happily, and as far as I can tell both my friend and her ex are very happy in the relationship and are quite compatible. They were broken up for 4 years. So theres a success story for you: 5 month relationship, girl falls out of love, minimal contact for 4 years, couple gets back together, dating for 1.5 yrs now.

It happens. although rarely. It's tough to get an accurate read on how often it happens from this board, since a lot of posters who may reconcille stop coming back here and we never do find out what happened to them.
