I just received THIS email from him:

Hey Z, it’s really, weird being so distant with you, but I needed to keep you in the loop. I wanted to let you know that I have requested to down size to a studio apartment. So we have to have all of our stuff out by January 1. I didn’t think it would be so soon, but they just had a studio apartment open up so I figured I better jump on it since it’s about $200 month cheaper. I just wanted to give you a heads up. I truly hope you are doing well…and I’m sure you probably don’t really want to hear from me, but I needed to let you know that we have a deadline to be out of the apartment. Take care.

?!?!?!

What should I say to this.

He gave you fair warning. It's not like he's telling you the day of.

I guess I should ask first: did you recently break up with him? If so, it's probably for the better that you're not living with him...

This all went down on Saturday. On Friday we were a normal fighting couple, and now I haven't talked to him in three days except for this email he just sent me.

January first is not an acceptable date given this is the first I have heard of this. While I am in agreement that our belongings must be sold and divided, the simple logistics of selling these items during the holidays seem to indicate that you will not be able to move.

In an effort to expedite the sale of these belongings, I suggest you contact an estate sale agent who can purchase the entire lot. Please contact me with the agents information so that we can set up a convenient date for the estimate, final sale, and pick up.

If you have another suggestion regarding the sale, please do not hesitate to contact me. There is no reason we cannot part amicably, especially regarding such simple things as "stuff" and living accomodations.

"Thank you for letting me know. That IS short notice, but obviously we have no choice.

It's good to hear from you. I hope you are doing well too."

.....Would be an acceptable response.

if you wanted to add anything else about repairing the damage, now would be a good time to do it.......
