That's not what giving a gift is about. Get him something because you care about him and want to get him something.

If he doesn't get you one, and doesn't offer it to you, then don't let him know you got him one and dump his ass the day after Christmas. Don't tell him it's because he didn't get you a gift. A guy doesn't really care about you if he doesn't get you a gift, particularly after 5 months, and if he's really into you, he'll get you a gift even if you've been seeing each other a week. Basically, if he doesn't get you a gift, you aren't special to him and he's not emotionally invested and never will be.
