I have to laugh. I have to take these dates all in stride. The fact of the matter is this: I don't have much free time to meet men in my everyday life, so I resort to match.com. Internet dating has been my main avenue for dating lately, and it's, uhhhhhh, interesting and is leaving me with stories to tell. I have started a dating journal...

Well, I had yet another date last night. We met at a TGIFriday's. Let's just say that the man was NOT what I had imagined he'd be. Actually.... let's rewind a bit, shall we?

When I began talking to this one.. something just "clicked", we have SO much in common. Awesome, right? We talked and talked and IMed and couldn't stop talking. His pictures portrayed him to be average looking, but not something I couldn't deal with physically. I really felt like this one could actually go somewhere!! Woohoo! I am kind of excited, as is he. We IM, text, and talk on the phone for a couple days without pause. When can we meet up? he asked. How's Thursday? Thursday works...... and so we have planned a "date".

Let's just say he is nothing like his pictures. Dweeby is the word that comes to mind, and I am NOT a shallow person, people!! I swear I am not!! We arrived at the same time, when i saw him get out of his giant silver Mercedes armored truck, and viewed what he REALLY looks like, I admit part of me wanted to run. I didn't though, as I am a woman true to her word.

Something you learn in online dating is that all of your senses are used until you come into play. Everything that you feel, smell, taste, and see in person is not shown in a one dimensional photograph or instant message. Smell...his smell was , uhhhmmmm, that of a 70 year old man, I would say. Old spice would have even been better than this familiar yet unappealing scent.

The clothes.. his style was interesting, I don't even know how else to describe that. I, personally, am all for being free to express yourself through what you wear and not be harshly judged. Again, just the discrepancy between the pictures and reality made me scratch my head. His jeans were almost as tight as mine and the coat he wore reminded me of, again, something my grandpa would wear. le sigh...

Let's just say that the internet can really be deceiving, his overall vibe was NOTHING like I had gotten over the many IMs and calls prior to this. So, it is another chapter. I had a decent time, I had dinner and drinks, I had an interesting thursday evening!

I just thought I would share this chapter with you all. ;) It isn't the first time I have had unexpected bad chemistry on a date, and it won't be the last! CHEERS! lol
