mrmatt Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Would you rather...spend a day with God, and him answer any questions you have...or, kill Hilter with your bare hands and save over 14,000,000 people, knowing you'll spend an eternity in Hell?
IfWishesWereHorses Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I'ld spend a day with God. Don't know that I could kill anyone (even Hitler) let alone with my bare hands. And you Mr. Matt?
Author mrmatt Posted December 11, 2008 Author Posted December 11, 2008 And you Mr. Matt? I'd kill Hitler. Who knows if the children of one of those 14,000,000 people could have cured cancer, or any other innovation to make today's world a better place.
Owl Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I'd ask God for guidance. He could let me know why Hitler wasn't killed by someone else. If He wanted it to happen, He'd make it happen.
Geishawhelk Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 God doesn't want you to take the law into your own hands (no pun intended). He did point out, in one of his 10 commandments that he'd rather you didn't kill anyone. I'd leave Hitler to him, and help myself to another slice of shortbread. Which doubtless, would be excellent. And non-fattening.
Author mrmatt Posted December 11, 2008 Author Posted December 11, 2008 Would you rather...save 5 of your closest adult friends from death....or save 100,000 children from a faraway country you don't even know the name of?
IfWishesWereHorses Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I'm not really proud of this but my 5 closest adult friends are parents and children ect... I'ld probably choose them.
Enema Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 God didn't take steps to stop Hitler, so it must have been in his plan. Who are you to question gods plan!?
Moose Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 God didn't take steps to stop Hitler, so it must have been in HIS plan.Like a Grandma spending all day and night knitting a quilt, we can only see the back side on this side of our physical existance. God already sees the whole tapestry, the whole picture, and we're all in for a big surprise...

The children. They may have more to offer. And my closest adult friends, knowing me, would understand.
Moose Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 The end justifies the means? Gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette?Precisely. For example, Christ knew that one of his fondest friends was sick and a messenger was sent to ask Christ to come and heal him before he would die. Christ didn't leave right away. His Disciples were even a little upset over it. When Christ did make it back, Lazurus' sister borderlined scorned Him over it. Christ did this on purpose to prove God's power over Death and raised his friend from death into life. As far as the Jewish holocaust with Hitler at the helm, God made another point. NOONE can destroy his chosen people. Ahemenijad will be the next person to realize this, only my opinion.....
disgracian Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 The problem with trying to rationalise events (especially tragic ones) into points made by god is that one tends to require a lot of tunnel vision to make it work. What about the 70-million or so non-Jews that died as part of the second world war, what point was god making with them, or were they just collateral damage? The less fanciful but more accurate interpretation of all tragic events is that they happen for no reason other than they are caused by nature or malevolent men with too much power than they can deal with responsibly. Cheers, D.
