Author chris250 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Then re-live it after you're married, when asking her again and again would seem romantic to her, as though you'd marry her all over again as the years and decades go by. Why is 4 a magic number to you? I believe 4 is a bad luck number in Chinese culture. I thought that it was a man's role to ask the woman to marry him. It's a bold move to ask even once. But once she says yes then it gets easier to ask again and again.
JamesM Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I want to propose more than once because I like hearing her say yes. I like hearing her father say yes. I want to relive that moment more than once. The only way to do that is to ask 4 times. Have it videotaped.

For your own satisfaction that someone wants to marry you and hasn't changed their mind?

What if your future bride is that age as well? Her father will more than likely be dead. Will you have to ask her 8 times to make up for him?
LaceyLou Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I second the OCD diagnosis... He doesn't disclose why "4" is such an important number... why not 17? or 31? or... 156? OCD... there's medication for it.

If someone asked me to marry him 8 times I'd tell him to shut the hell up about it because I already said yes!
Author chris250 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 It's actually sexual harassment to ask a woman to marry you more than once if she says no but if she says yes then it's legally ok to ask her more than once.
lovesparis Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 i am not a trained professional, but this screams OCD also. and to second, third and fourth (ra-pa-pum) everyone here: DO NOT DO IT it is NOT romantic (1). it's weird (2). it's annoying (3). it sounds loony (4). i would probably change my mind to "no" after the 2nd time for sure. even if i was all about the "asking permission" thing, if a guy did that to my dad i would sure as hell hope he said "no" the 2nd time it was asked. and, i can dig on being ocd about somethings, but really... if you get to 4, what's stopping you? why not ask every four days. and nights. or every hour, or 4 times an hour? you can keep going..... if she said yes i bet she'd love it if you asked 4 times a minute. :bunny::bunny: (4)

manchvegasgal Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 This reminds me of a tv show...i can't recall the name but Mike O'Malley, a Boston actor was on it...2 sisters married to 2 brothers or something. Basically the guy had a ring in his pocket and the girl found it and assumed that he was going to proposed and just screamed yes. He hadn't meant to propose at all and just felt screwed. This episode would come right back to me...hmmm...asking again huh? Did you screw up? were you drunk? was I threatening you with a sharp object at the time? Sounds like you're hoping for her to say no, then when someone accuses you of being commitment-phobic you can say "No way I proposed to a girl 4 times and she changed her mind and rejected me"
