Bells Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 ...as dates. There's this single woman I know...very attractive....has sworn off dating guys for a while. However, I would see her make remarks or comments thanking certain female friends for being their "date" on Sat night. Now, I'm sure this is a "misnomer" of sorts, I guess referring to another female friend as a "date" for someone in one of those "not dating men as a protest" of some sort....but what's the reason for this? Referring to female friends as "dates", she always complimenting her female friends constantly on how beautiful they look, repetitively even. It's almost almost sounds like she wants to "play for the other team" or something, LOL. Though not quite there yet. She's in her mid 30's. BUT, women have a tendency to be more "Affectionate" towards one another anyhow. Since that's their nature, maybe that's why its a turn on to some men? I don't know....but I'm seeing this pattern of affection between STRAIGHT women, more prevelant. When women do it, it's not considered gay activity, but if a guy does it to a male friend, the male friend might wind up giving his other male friend a black eye. LOL. Of course, it could just be a phase. Now if a guy said this, how would this make them look?

Of course, it could just be a phase. Now if a guy said this, how would this make them look? Well, this is cultural. Here, two men holding hands is basically taboo, unless they are gay and/or willing to have their sexuality speculated about. But in other cultures, such as many African countries, men hold hands with each other as a sign of close friendship, and would never dream of holding a woman's hand in public. (And women don't hold each other's hands either.) So it's not genetic, it's just cultural, is my point. Anyway. I've joked before about going out with a female friend on a "date." It's just so not a big deal or even worth speculating about, because it means exactly zip except as a throwaway joke. There's no trend, people have been doing that for ages.
