carhill Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I think reading through would help. My opinion has changed as the thread has progressed. The latest episode at the party and the fact that the OP felt compelled to post the specifics speaks volumes, IMO.
bubblegum Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Why is Steelrain's username steel rain? Is it because he is made of steel? Very astute observation Bubbly!
BubblyPopcorn Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Very astute observation Bubbly! Thanks . And I concur with Carhill, they’re not on the same page. She's apprehensive, he appears overly guarded = clash.
Trialbyfire Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 To be fair, they're both conflicted and continuing to play the game of "one who cares the least"!
berrieh Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 To be fair, they're both conflicted and continuing to play the game of "one who cares the least"! Ha! Reminds me of Dorothy Parker, particularly this poem (emphasis mine): Somebody's Song This is what I vow; He shall have my heart to keep, Sweetly will we stir and sleep, All the years, as now. Swift the measured sands may run; Love like this is never done; He and I are welded one: This is what I vow. This is what I pray: Keep him by me tenderly; Keep him sweet in pride of me, Ever and a day; Keep me from the old distress;Let me, for our happiness, Be the one to love the less: This is what I pray. This is what I know:Lovers' oaths are thin as rain; Love's a harbinger of pain- Would it were not so! Ever is my heart a-thirst, Ever is my love accurst; He is neither last nor first: This is what I know.
Jims555 Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Bravo man. you handled that very well. you didn't fall for that test (trap). I was in a nearly identical situation a while back. when she said she was dating someone else too, i just said "oh really" like i didn't really care (which i didn't). i didn't change anything about the way i acted around her, and a month later it was her and i dating exclusively. Keep up the good work man!
johan Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I read the rest. I suspect he avoided her at the party. Things have gotten awkward between them with all the analysis. Now it's hard to know what the right thing to do is, because it's become a bit of a chess game. For me, once things have gotten physical, I expect that we'll be exclusive. If I feel the urge to be with others, then I have to get out because I know I'm on the path to hurting someone. That feeling turns me off. And if she still feels the need to "test the waters" then I know she's not feeling it for me. I don't want to put my time into someone who just considers me a stepping stone. I think Steelrain should decide whether he wants this girl or not. If he does then he should act like it. If he can't bring himself to do that, then write her off.

I have to say after reading about the party, my view definitely changed. It feels like the girl is giving him a slight bit of the cold shoulder because he refuses to join in her game of who wants her more.

It could be interpreted that Steelrain was giving her a bit of the cold shoulder at the party... Steelrain hasn't posted today so maybe they ended up getting together last night after all?
Author Steelrain21 Posted December 8, 2008 Author Posted December 8, 2008 Steelrain hasn't posted today so maybe they ended up getting together last night after all? Lucky guess haha. I told her that I didn't get a chance to really make my way over to her at that party and she was gone before I knew it. I told her that I wanted to see her last night. She ended up coming over and staying the night. It was a good night and we got along really well. I dropped her off at her house this afternoon and she told me that she enjoyed last night and that we should do it again. Maybe she does like me a little more than I had thought.
carhill Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Let the games continue I'll bet you had sex too... Rubber band romance....
Dexter Morgan Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 OP, a couple questions: Was this party so gigantic and your time so valuable that you could notice the young lady you've been having sex with and yet not have time to speak with her? Maybe the Steel thought the other guy might be there and didn't want to cockblock;) And she could have just as easily walked up to him at the party too. Remember, SHE is the one seeing someone else on the side.
