I woke up this morning to find a note from my partner that he can't handle his depression and my depression and that he is moving out.

While trying to get the computer organized I found out he's been chatting to other women on MSN.

I have been in a daze all day. Tonight I just feel like throwing up and then going to sleep and never waking up.

I have known that things weren't great but he has been so emotionally closed off. How can people be so cruel.

he didn't even have the balls to tell me to my face. All his stuff is still here. I figure he thinks he is going to play this back and forth game like the last time we split for six months. My super was suppose to have changed the locks today and he didnt' show up. I'm having my phone number changed and I've been trying to get my email account closed but it says other stuff is linked. I don't know what to do with all his stuff. I don't have the strength to pack it up and ship it and I don't want him back in this house.

I have so much stuff to do and I'm so tired and stress as is I don't know how I'm going to get through this

Sell his stuff on eBay.

Sell his stuff on eBay.

That is illegal if she isn't the owner of the property. She has to give him the chance to take it. Him just leaving this morning is not enough time.

Interesting you say sell his stuff. I had a guy at work tell me the same thing.

I am having the locks changed so he won't be getting back in. This is a rented townhouse and he was not on the lease. I'm not sure what the rules behind it would be. But he won't be getting everything back. We split most of the big ticket items 50/50 and as far as I'm concerned since he said he would pay me for December, well by law he would have to pay me for December and January, so I guess then I can keep some of the stuff to cover the cost of what he doesn't pay.

seems fair enough to me.

If he's not on the lease how do you figure he owes for December or January?

I get he owes you for two days when I do the math.

He was the one who said he would pay me for December. and it doesn't matter where you live in Ontario on a lease or not 60 days notice is the standard. If you do not give 60 days notice you can take it to small claims court and be awarded the 60 days. I've been down this road before with a past rental agency.

Oh I didn't know that. I live in the US. Here things don't apply to roommates so much as they apply to tenant/landlords.

You basically can't get much money back from your roommate other than the time they lived there unless they are on the lease.

And seeing how you changed the locks you wouldn't be entitled to much. Plus kept his stuff that he half-paid for.

In the States you'd be looking pretty bad before a judge.
