ThisGuy85 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Last night I was having trouble falling asleep. My girlfriend had been in bed for a quite a while before I came in and laid down. So I'm laying their and my GF Starts talking. She says "I want you to be part of my family" So my first thought is, **** I should have just stayed in the living room. Then she say "This is a jungle and you are the beast" Now I should say that my GF doesn't usually use metaphors, So I start to wonder what exactly she is trying to imply? So I ask her what the f*** she is talking about, But she doesn't say anything. A few minutes goes by and she starts up again but this time it's some nonsense gibberish that I can't make out. Then she says "If you want me..... take me, Stop pretending" At this point I finally figure out that she's just talking in her sleep. You have to understand this is the first time it's ever happened while we've lived together, So it took me a while to figure it out. So I'm OK now that I know she's not talking about me. But then she goes "my mom was right, You're not going to do it........You're not" This threw up all kinds of red flags for me. A few weeks ago her mom started all this crap with her about getting married, And how she wanted grandchildren. I had told my GF that I wasn't ready for all of that. I'm only 22 and she's 25, It's just way too soon to think about marriage, And she said that she agreed. So finally she stops talking, But not before ruining any chance I had of sleeping last night. So I've thought about this all day, Now I want to ask you guys. Am I reading too much into this, Was it just a dream she was having and nothing more? I don't want to talk about this with her because the thought of marriage scares the crap out of me, even just talking about it. So am I just making somthing out of nothing?
Gremio Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I would let it go and not let it eat you. I once was talking in a half sleep when I was with my girlfriend (now ex). I can't remember exactly what I said right now, but it's something we always remembered and laughed about.
berrieh Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 You're reading way too much into it. I talk in my sleep all the time. Nothing I say, or dream, has a literal bearing on what's going on in my life. Chillax.
Ruby Slippers Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 When you're asleep, your subconscious is dredging up all the stuff in your head that you don't necessarily want to think about or face directly. It's perfectly normal to have worries, doubts, and fears at any stage of a relationship. Any thinking person questions their choices and situations. I wouldn't worry about what she said in her sleep. I talk in my sleep and say some crrrazy **** sometimes.
kashmir Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 LOL, if I ever had a girlfriend I would scare the CRAP out of her when I'm sleeping. I wake my roommate up on a regular basis with threatening stuff like, "YOU A-HOLE," or "I TOLD YOU TO GO DIE, JERKOFF." One time I think I said something like, "I think it's your time...to burn in HELL." He was totally freaked out that night. Anyway, I don't think this means much.
Author ThisGuy85 Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Thanks for all the replies. I've never actually been around someone who talked in their sleep. So when I heard that stuff I definitely freaked. Good to know It doesn't mean anything
porter218 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 "This is a jungle and you are the beast" LOL...Just focus on this part of her dream and forget about the rest and you will be fine.
porter218 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Thanks for all the replies. I've never actually been around someone who talked in their sleep. So when I heard that stuff I definitely freaked. Good to know It doesn't mean anything My H talks in his sleep sometimes. He admitted to cheating and even went through a play by play of meeting one of the girls in his sleep. It isn't always meaningless, my H gave me one of the sweetest apologies for being a bad H in his sleep.
awesomeness43 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 sometimes im on the phone with my gf late night when were not together and she says some random gibberish. "go to the grocery store and get me milk", "blue car goes fast", blah. At first i thought it was super cute. Now i am quite annoyed =( Its like trying to have a conversation with a 2 year old.
Star Gazer Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 An old roommate of mine talked in her sleep, and I used to sleep walk and talk in my sleep in my teens. The things that came out of both of our mouths didn't mean a thing, I assure you.
amymarieca Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I agree with everyone here. There is no way she would remember even saying that so I wouldn't worry about it. That's why they call them dreams. I once was dating a guy who slept over quite often. One time in the middle of the night he got out of bed and walked over to the tv in my bedroom and started fiddling with the DVD player. When I asked him what he was doing, he told me he was getting money from the bank machine. When he woke up we both had a good laugh.
