Maybe he doesn't want to risk your friendship over a possible romantic happening. Maybe he's once bitten twice shy, surely you know a little about his past, you've talked a lot with him. I guess I don't have solutions for you, maybe you're too available. He's getting all of the emotional fulfillment of a GF without any of the risk and stress.
