I have some family that would definetly apreciate it if I'd come home for thanksgiving. It would take me a few hours to drive home and for the most part it would probably be stresfull and anoying the entire time I was home. I'd really rather just stay at my place and relax maybe even get a few things done but it would hurt my family. I still havn't made my decision up yet if I will be going home. Any one have any thoughts or a similar dilema

Oh go. Seeing you would probably be a treat to your family.

And your mom won't worry either. Parents worry when their kids don't show up.

Go. It would probably make their day.

"Look Mom, I've been having problems with class 101 and need help. There's a tutor who can help me but he's only got time during Thanksgiving. You know that I want to do well in school...."

Well, I came up with a deal re; Christmas. Flying up a whole family from Florida to NY is expensive, has possible weather issues, and is a major pain in the azz.

I once spent christmas eve in the kentucky airport which is actually located in fruckin Cincinatti !?!

SO, I agree to go every OTHER time, thereby splitting the headaches.

As long as you're going for x-mas, I think they should understand. Or, as TBF said, come up with a good excuse (car probs, work, already committed to volunteering at the salvation army etc !)

We're in daytona beach and are probably going to get a bushel of oysters, some lobsters and beer !

 That's 'cause it is a b/s answer. You figure out how to get out of your dinner then. You know what works. Doing well in school does work, regardless of what level you're at.
