Anybody know any good ones?

I have been playing:

Going to California by Led Zeppelin

Losing my Religion by R.E.M.

Untitled by Interpol

I can't listen to any of the stuff I used to because of all this. Looking for some new stuff to help me out, and I have listened to these three way too much. Going to California is really great, although probably just for guys. Tell me what you've been listening to!

- Nick Cave and the bad seeds - Love Letter, so slowly goes the night

- Jeff Buckley - So Real, Hallelujah

- Led Zep - babe, i'm gonna leave you

- Interpol - Untitled, Evil, Obstacle 1, PDA

- Morrissey - Let me kiss you, driving your girlfriend home

- The Smiths - Miserable lie, you've got everything now, wonderful woman, asleep, unloveable, i want the one i can't have, well i wonder

- Joy Division - atmosphere, new dawn fades, 24 hours, the eternal

seriously check as many as those out as you can, all fantastic heartbreak songs, trust me ....

LOVE LETTER by NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS is essential, absolutely 100% essential to listen to when you're missing her badly

Eminem - Kim

Ripped this off from an earlier coping thread but never listened to it til I was digging through my old, old CD collection. Very sick, but satisfying to listen to in some dark way.

I mention this in every music thread, but practically anything by Guns N' Roses is good... it's all about heartbreak, Axl is a big softie really :lmao:

I have been listening to Matchbox 20 albums (Yourself or Someone Like You, Mad Season, and More Than You Think You Are) almost continuously since my breakup two months ago.

Also currently on my playlist:

After Dark - Little Birdy

Stupid & I Love You - Sarah McLachlan

Starlight - Muse

Hearts A Mess - Gotye

I'd Do Anything For Love - Meatloaf

Heavy Heart - You Am I

Actually I could keep writing songs here all night - I'm big fan of music therapy to ease the troubled heart

Thanks for the Kanye West suggestion Emperor. It's perfect, especially because it's so different from what I usually listen to.

I think the songs we like probably depend on how the break-up went. I also think different songs are good for different parts of a break-up.

Immediatly after my break-up, when I was filled with frustration, anger, and self-loathing; the following songs helped:

Hurt [Johnny Cash] - Perfect song for those of us who have moments when we hate ourselves. It's a lot better than the NiN version and really hits a cord when he can't stand how you've acted in a relationship. It also has a small ray of hope near the end which is a nice touch.

Kim [Eminem] - I'm not condoning the song but it's very cathartic. It's sick yes but it does help you release a lot of your anger. It's also interesting since Eminem's character comes across like a very insecure and totally controlling jerk in the song.

Jealous Guy [John Lennon] - A very underrated song of Lenon's that especially struck a cord after my break-up. Once again, taps into the frustration of messing up a relationship.

Yesterday [Paul McCartney] - Don't think I need to explain this one.

My Life [billy Joel] - When you feel ready to move on and think you're glad to be free.

After getting through the dark days, I found songs that make you feel good about the world were more helpful than the sad stuff. ones like the following:

Now We Are Free [Gladiator OST] - A great piece of music giving one the sense of piece in the world.

Across the Universe [John Lenon] - Like above. Everything will be allright and work out.

(Sittin' on the) The Dock of a Bay [Ottis Redding] - speaks for itself.
