Trimmer Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I think it's sweet when you are witness to an otherwise stoic/together/composed man shed a tear (you know, when he remembers a specific part of his childhood, or mourns the loss of a friend). Or how about when he's recalling the births of his kids??? -has kids Oops. Damn; never mind then. I find it encouraging that none of you have listed bitterness, lots of baggage, or uncontrollable sweating as deal breakers. ... and it's probably a relief to some that thick back hair is still in play...
Ocean-Blue Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Or how about when he's recalling the births of his kids??? Or he sobs hysterically while he makes you watch his son's birthing video.
Touche Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Chugster, that's nothing to joke about! I did want to add tattos. Sorry for those who have them but it's just a personal preference. I could never/have never dated anyone with tattoos or piercings.
Author allina Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Well say that then and don't generalize by saying poetry! =p But I get what you mean. Your hair is like a butterfly Your eyes They're like Venus In the morrow's sky Well, I haven't met a man who wrote poetry that wasn't super depressing and lame! And it's more like Your hair is like a butterfly Of death that stabs me in the heart And watched me bleed tears  I find it encouraging that none of you have listed bitterness, lots of baggage, or uncontrollable sweating as deal breakers. Well I believe I did say in my original post that there's no reason to list the super obvious stuff

kashmir Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 You have to know that I just laughed my head off. :lmao: Emos everywhere are sending ill thoughts your way, allina. Without women like allina breaking emo guys' hearts, they would have nothing to write about.
BubblyPopcorn Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I'm also adding snoring to my list, I can sleep through a land mine but I have to wear ear plugs if someone snores. I will put my fingers up someone's nose if they snore too loud just to make it stop.
Touche Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 OK not joking then. Small peepee? Ok, that's better. As for the whole poetry thing...I have to agree. No offense to anyone and I'm just generalizing here but men who write poetry are usually the worst phonies and totally insincere. But that's only been MY experience, so don't anybody get all offended.

Aww I like some emo guys Sometimes I jokingly call my SO emo because he wears emo glasses and plays the guitar
RecordProducer Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Apparently we're all turned off by rudeness in any form, so I won't list the group of faults that pertains to this trait. I wouldn't call these traits turn-offs, but rather things that break the deal for me because of my personal needs and preferences: (I assume we're talking about the first few dates, not when in a developed relationship) 1. A Small-talk guy, ie. discusses things, events, and facts rather than ideas, theories, and opinions that originate in his mind from his own analyses 2. Lack of enthusiasm and passion for life in general 3. Too serious, non-smiling 4. Focused on the material side of the world rather than on personal growth and introspection; pragmatic rather than idealistic 5. "Tough" guy image 6. Incompassionate, insensitive 7. Has trust issues by default 8. Conventional/traditional; follows social/religious norms and values rather than his own 9. Finds looks to be more important than the intellect 10. Doesn't read books; doesn't learn new things (through reading) regularly 11. Isn't super-romantic; lets things develop slowly; doesn't want to be exclusive since day one 12. Isn't too open, doesn't disclose more than necessary, and makes sure his answers sound good (makes me think they are not entirely truthful) 13. Loves to party
amaysngrace Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 The poem my boyfriend wrote for me: There was a time when I felt nothing, There was a time when I felt alone, There was a time when the sun didn't shine, There was a time when life had no color, Then came... Then came you, My color was refreshed, My eyes were renewed, Time felt like something, Time was entwined with another, Time allowed the sun to shine, And time and life had color, And that feeling was good, And has been good, And has changed me forever. Thank you!! It doesn't really rhyme but I think it was sweet. I colored it with a red crayon and cut it out in the shape of a flower and cut out and colored a green stem with leaves and hung it on my bedroom wall with tape.

Is his favorite movie Garden State? Does it make him cry? Ok, I'm totally kidding, it's sweet.
fral945 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 4. Focused on the material side of the world rather than on personal growth and introspection; pragmatic rather than idealistic Can you elaborate on #4? I don't understand how the first sentence and the second correlate. I am more focused on personal growth and introspection but also pragmatic. I have the exact opposite view as you (of course I am male). I am turned off by women who are idealistic and not pragmatic.
Author allina Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Nothing against your bf, but I'm betting Allina would puke out her stomach lining... I'm just not in to man poetry, really poetry. Though, that's not true either, I'm well versed in poetry, I suppose I just don't find poets f*ckable, I'll read it but I won't hit it?
amaysngrace Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Emmmmo! Is his favorite movie Garden State? Does it make him cry? Ok, I'm totally kidding, it's sweet. It is sweet. I like this side of him. It's the only poem he ever wrote for me. But he's talented, well maybe not with this poem, but he carves tikis and draws pictures and writes and sings me songs. He does all kinds of cool stuff. IMO anyway.
lofi_tokyo Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 1. Men who wear too much Diesel or Armani. Gross. There is only so much cheezy European fashion I can handle. 2. Men who wear WAY to much cologne. 3. Men who make stuff up to impress me - OR agree with everything I say to impress me. Ick! Be your own person! 4. Men who treat their parents badly. 5. Men who treat MY parents badly. 6. Men that cannot appreciate the good in their lives. ;p
johan Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 How about men who compliment you on your avatar?
RecordProducer Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 It doesn't really rhyme but I think it was sweet. I colored it with a red crayon and cut it out in the shape of a flower and cut out and colored a green stem with leaves and hung it on my bedroom wall with tape. "With tape"! I am laughing that you mentioned it, not that you used tape. I don't know why, but I get the feeling that you're not as madly in love with your boyfriend, as he is with you. But, I hope I am wrong. Nothing against your bf, but I'm betting Allina would puke out her stomach lining...Yeah! Well, for me writing poetry would be one of the deal makers.
chugster Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 XXX Large PeePee! LOL HAHAHA... small and large peepees. How about men who compliment you on your avatar? tokyovogue + touche If those avatars are photos of you.... STUNNING !!!

I don't know why, but I get the feeling that you're not as madly in love with your boyfriend, as he is with you. But, I hope I am wrong. You are wrong. Do you know how long it took me to cut that out in the shape of a flower? He typed it and printed that little phrase on this whole piece of paper and it looked like a tiny little box in the corner of the page. I wanted to keep it but the presentation was lacking big time. Also do you know how hard it was to color in a skinny little stem with a crayon? I think I ripped it from pressing too hard and that is taped too.
Touche Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Thanks for the compliment Chugster! Yes, it's me. Have you seen my Sarah Palin impression? OH and little peepees, big ones..it's all good.
