Is 12 hours too long for a date?

It was supposed to be lunch, and then became shopping and a coffee, and then turned into a movie and a post-movie drink and chat. And it seemed ok while it lasted, fun, we covered a lot of ground, but now I'm home and I feel like I should have cut it shorter, perhaps after the coffee, and that we're going to wear it out before it even begins.

I don't know, I feel weird about it, not because anything weird happened, but perhaps because I had to run off at the last minute to catch a bus--it wasn't a proper goodbye. It might be my abandonment stuff kicking in. I like him, we got along easily and happily all day, but nonetheless I feel awkward now, like it was too much too soon.

Am I being paranoid? Would he have cut it short if he wanted to? It was his idea to sit and talk after the movie...

Yes, you're being paranoid. Stop with that kind of thinking. If he didn't want to be with you, he would have found an excuse to dash.

Enjoy it!

I've had longer dates that didn't end up in bed together so don't feel it's that unusual. If a guy enjoys your company, he's going to want to spend time with you. :)

Thanks TBF. I had no intention of getting into bed with him. It's not that. I guess I just couldn't gauge what his intentions were--he has a lot of female friends. He did put his arm around me when we shared an umbrella, and there are things we've said we would get in touch about--as early as tomorrow. So I'll try not to be too paranoid. :)

Guys will dash if they're not having a good time. Think about when you've been in a relationship and couples get together. The girls chat, the guys glaze over and then they wander off outside to have cigars and scotch or go watch a game on TV.

I think he's sweet. Did he put his arm around you and hold the umbrella?

Yes--his umbrella broke in the wind and we ended up using mine. When it stopped raining, we did the arm in arm thing. He is sweet. :)

I always find it so courteous when men hold the umbrella. Arm in arm is adorable. Sounds to me like you had a wonderful date. Now do stop worrying and enjoy it. You'll be talking to him again tomorrow. :bunny:

Sounds like the sex was good. His control will probably improve as you get more "in tune" with each other's bodies.

Let the first thing you say to him, be -

"I had such a great time yesterday - how 'bout you?!" Big smile...!

I dated a guy a couple of years ago for about 3 or so months. It didn't work out because there were too many areas of incompatibility, but we are still friends. On our first "official" date we had a bite to eat in a cafe, then we saw a movie, then we had dinner, then we had drinks....we talked a lot and laughed a lot, got to know each other a bit, and developed a comfort level with each other. It did not end up in bed. It was a great start to a nice relationship.

Thanks for the perspective. We do have a lot in common--or so it seems thus far. It would be a really nice friendship if nothing else
