edinsvet Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I just lost some weight, and now I need a whole new wardrobe. I am a little dumb about style, and can really use some help. So my question .... What style on a man do you women think is most attractive for a guy who might be at places like a book store, luncheonette or coffee shop, and also for showing up on a first or second date? 1. Very Casual - Jeans and a T-shirt or Polo 2. Slightly Dressed up - Maybe slacks or a Button Down shirt but not both 3. Dress Casual - Slacks, and Shirt, but not a suit 4. Dressed up - Suit but no tie, and not a business suit or tux 5. Totally Decked out - Suit, Tie, Shiney shoes the whole 9 yards
Lady Bird Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I think 1-3 are fine for the book store, luncheonette or coffee shop scenerio. 4 & 5 would be for dates but also depends on where the date is taking place such as fine dining, a show or play, dinner party...etc.

I like the casual look #2 not sure, sounds like you'd be going out in one or the other (i.e. pants no shirt; shirt no pants). #4 has the Miami Vice appeal, some girls dig that. #5 is nice for formal occassions Wear whatever your most comfortable in but maybe skip the European banana hammocks
Portage Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I like 1 & 3 - wearing what you feel good and attractive in will determine that factor. You know YOU best
MalachiX Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 #2 not sure, sounds like you'd be going out in one or the other (i.e. pants no shirt; shirt no pants). I really enjoy wearing a shirt but no pants when I'm trying to meet a woman. It kind of gives me that Saturday morning cartoon look.
MWC_LifeBeginsAt40 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Check your shoes. If you're all decked out, and then running shoes? no go.
BubblyPopcorn Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I really enjoy wearing a shirt but no pants when I'm trying to meet a woman. It kind of gives me that Saturday morning cartoon look. Haha, I guess that's how Fred Flinston got his Wilma.
CarrieT Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 #3 for me - somehow I don't take a man seriously in jeans and a t-shirt. It is as though he doesn't care enough about himself to do or look any better. But I'm also one who lived with a man for 12 years who wore nothing BUT jeans and t-shirts and it got really, really old...
johan Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Wear what you think looks good. Otherwise you'll feel awkward. If you're right, you'll look like you have it together. If you're wrong, they will think you need their help. Either way you win.
lovestruck818 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I love a guy in a blazer (sport jacket? not sure of the right word) and jeans and shoes. Sexy. Mmm mmm delish.
alphamale Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 empirical double-blind studies show that many women like nice black slacks with a nice shirt and fashionable shoes with dark socks.
Ruby Slippers Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Most women like at least a little bit of color. An ex of mine just e-mailed me the other day and told me that he's gotten hundreds of compliments on this shirt I advised him to get for himself, a pretty colorful striped button-down number in the red scale, which he said he never would have picked out himself.
alphamale Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Most women like at least a little bit of color. i agree....i have this aquamarine ralph lauren long sleeve shirt and everywhere i wear it i get compliment on the colour...and only from women
Trialbyfire Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Go 1 to 2, for what you've listed, as places to go and be. For dates, first and second, it's reliant on what your dates are comprised of. If you're the bowling type, don't wear a suit. If you're dining at a five star restaurant, unless you can carry it off with panache, no jeans.
Lucky555 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Jeans and a polo shirt look good jeans and a button down shirt jeans and a nice t-shirt I think if your comfortable and look good you are going to reflect self confidence. when it comes to girls if you don't have that confidence it doesn't matter what you wear. Certainly looking clean and you feeling comfortable will be the best. I think for dinners or a date you should wear slacks or a nice jacket with your outfit.
monkey00 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I'd go #2. button down with a nice pair of jeans (and maybe stylish black shoes) I think if your comfortable and look good you are going to reflect self confidence. when it comes to girls if you don't have that confidence it doesn't matter what you wear. I agree. I think a style that works for one person may not necessarily work for the other. No matter what you wear as long as it's stylish with confidence..it will ooze out like an aura.
