alwayssme Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Anything you suggest? I know threads like this have probably been made already but I don't know how to search on the forums. They don't all have to be about break-ups necessary...But please nothing with "Awww! What a love story...we got back together" type of crap...because those annoy me at this point. Thanks!
openbook08 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 "Its Called A Break Up Cos Its Broken" "Hes Just Not That Into You" anyone youre interested in google to see if theyve an autobiography 10 mins hips and thighs (oh wait that last one prob just me!!) rent a boxset of a series youd like to see but were always too busy with your ex to give yourself time to watch! I love Gossip Girl as a result!!
norajane Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 When I'm dealing with a break-up, I find it's best to stay away from any and all things that are focusing on either romance or breaking up, including self help books. Reading self help books doesn't much help my recovery because I'm still focusing on the break up while reading it. I think it's good to focus on other things and get outside your head. So, at those times, I prefer to read things like mystery novels and watch stuff like the Sopranos - things having little to do with either love or break ups. Travel books are great, too, especially if you have the time and money to plan a trip.

BareGoddess Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I recently finished reading "Three Weeks With My Brother" by Nicholas Sparks. I loved that book. Also "Running With Scissors" by a newly discovered author (for me) Augustin Burroughs. He's so out there and I just love his sense of humor. They did make that book into a movie...wasn't wild about the movie though. As for past favorite books...I loved Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (anything by him really) and Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer. One of my favorite other books was "Ragtime" by E.L. Doctorow. (Not sure of the spelling of his last name though.) Another of my all time favorite books was "Evergreen" by Belva Plain. I read that one more than 20 years ago but I still can't forget it. Happy reading!
Jamez123 Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 Well i've had to depend on books and movies for my happiness for the past couple of months . . . Reccomended Movies- -Taxi Driver (i don't know why but it really helps me, probably becauseit's my favourite movie ever and you get SO into it, you forget about your ex for a while! Probably more of a lads movie though) - Hot Fuzz (very funny, you'll laugh no matter what . . and the main character's single and lonely aswell if you've not seen it already, so i suppose you can empathise with him to some extent) - Psycho (I felt lonely and like i was going mad when my girlfriend first dumped me, so i watched this work of art and thought 'at least i don't have it as bad as this guy') - A Clockwork Orange (Just really helps me for some reason...) and as for tv shows, Family Guy and I'm Alan Partrige! . . .And as for books- - The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter - (a dark, adult fairytale really, but essentially an un-put-downable book, which will definately take your mind off your ex) -A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens -The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King (These have all helped me completely take my mind off my ex, i don't know why but they've really worked)
