Author Reggie Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 No, not diagnosed. I could, perhaps, support the theory. But, consider the source. It's good to start really looking at the mistakes from the past. I was pretty inexpierienced, having focused on academics and athletics so heavily, and pretty shy. So, I was definitely out of my depth as they were pretty well versed. I never meant to knock all women. But, the stats on both men and women are pretty amazing as regard infidelity. Seems you have a better than 50/50 chance of being a BS without better screening skills. Not sure if I can acquire these or, if it is worth the trouble. I'm enjoying being single. I get asked out and have a nice time. But, my mojo is just not kicking in.
Trialbyfire Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Sometimes it takes awhile to get back the interest in having a relationship, especially considering your negative experiences. Kick back and relax. If it happens, it happens. If not, don't stress about it. Pets are wonderful, especially big dogs like sheps, retrievers, labs, dobermans, etc. No need to baby these big boys, just unconditional love and lots of fun! If you want a psychotically active dog but incredibly intelligent, consider a border collie. The larger, long-legged beauties are something else!
Author Reggie Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Trial at first I was stressed about it. I felt I should compete with the ex and show I was marketable, as well. Then, it just sunk in. Life is very uncomplicated this way I have great kids and good relationships with them. I'm playing golf professionally in addition to practicing law and my golf game is really better than it has been in years. I'm of the mind that if I meet someone and it happens, so be it. But, there is no pressure to do so(Thanks, diminished testosterone levels and aging :-) ) I've had some really nice dogs growing up. Neither wife could stand animals(red flag?). Since I'm in an apartment, I need to go small. Gotta research the small dogs. I was thinking of a poodle. They are actually quite nice and smart.
IfWishesWereHorses Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 If you want a psychotically active dog but incredibly intelligent, consider a border collie. Or an airedale if you want some nonstop entertainment! Not in an apartment though. Have you considered a rescue? Puppies are hard to train if you aren't around much. I respect very much that you are sound enough to take some time to make yourself happy, especially considering what you've been though.
Trialbyfire Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I've never been exposed to airdales, so know nothing about them. They seem like nice dogs though. Poodles are smart, don't shed and can be very relaxed companions. Not my kind of dog for some reason but I can understand why they're so popular. How about a Jack Russell? (had to sneak that in! ) It sounds like you've got your head on straight now. Good for you!

Not good for the apartment. I've been taking the kids to the Animal Humane Society for the last few weekends and I am sure we will, eventually, get a dog from there. My sister does Lab rescue and has three labs. She has lots of space, though. If I go terrier, I think I may get something with Schnauzer in it. I had three schnauzers growing up and they were good little dogs. Yes, it is good to just kick back and not deal with the craziness.
sadintexas Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Boston Terriers rock too! But if you go the shelter route (and kudos to you for doing so) that special little dog will pick you and you'll know him when you see him.
