divorce Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Hi everyone, Firstly, i am a newby to this site so if this thread has been put on her before apologies in advance. I have just recently separated from my wife of 9 years marriage. We have 2 children together (7 and 3). My wife has been the main wage earner for most of the marriage but after starting up a small business 3 years ago we are now on the same income. My question is this, I have made the decision to end our marrage after being unhappy for a number of years. I have no idea on what i am entitled to. I dont want the house, the car or the contents as this would disrupt the lives of my kids. I also am worried that my wife is entitled to my business, which i have built up over the last 3 years. Could anyone give me some advice please. Many thanks
Geishawhelk Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 No. I think you need to consult a professional lawyer about this, for two reasons: If you're in the USA, the Law on such matters varies, even from State to State. If you're not in the USA, then it's largely guesswork, and I doubt very much there's anyone here who can give you factual concrete advice. Opinion is probably the best you'll get.

carhill Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/ If amenable/legal, I'd shoot to negotiate your share of the house for retaining your business. Of course, a solicitor is the best source of advice
