ok so i know all nighters aren't good for you and neither is lack of sleep

however i'm curious does anyone know what kind of effect they have a 20 year old males body...does it affect metabolism at all? will it make you gain weight?

i understand the whole craving food when your tired etc...but beyond that does it affect your metabolism?

Yes, it does. There are all kinds of sleep studies they've done, and lack of sleep slows your metabolism down. Consistent lack of sleep, like for 5 days straight, will create a borderline diabetic or even a diabetic effect in your body.

I do know that not sleeping, just like not eating, makes your body conserve energy. So, yes habitually not resting enough would affect your metabolism. That is one of the reasons many students put on "the freshman five" or ten or twenty and not just freshmen.

Yup, really bad for you!!! I feel like trash all the time. I'm usually up all night studying... I feel terrible during the school year. It screws up your body pretty badly. I'm training for a tournament and I want to compete at 155, but i'm 170 and cutting weight is really hard with lack of sleep. If i had three weeks of regular sleep and exercise and no stress I could drop that weight with ease. But as of right now there is no way I will make weight. So try to get some sleep.
