Without thinking I said something that hurt my girlfriend tremendously. We have a very honest and open relationship. From the moment we started getting close we had agreed to always tell each other the truth. I've been nothing but completely open with my feelings. Before I met her I was an extremely closed off person (in most ways I still am). I never cared to share anything with anyone. In fact she even told me it was difficult for her to 'crack my shell'.

The thought of hurting her just makes me sick to my stomach. I care about her a lot... I'm almost dumbfounded at how I could of said such a hurtful thing.

Now, she tells me she's over it. But I'm having a hard time being able to tell her how I feel again. I'm constantly worrying about how she'll take what I'm saying. I hate this.... I want to tell her everything and nothing at the same time. I just want things to go back to the way they were.... But I feel like I shattered a very delicate piece of glass.

Just tell her flat out that you are having this problem. You said that you and her are open with each other and what you just posted, she should know. If anything, tell her that what you did to her, messed up how you feel about her (idk if thats right but it can work especially if its the truth)

And listen to "Tell Her About It" by Billy Joel.

What did you tell her?

What did you tell her?

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing.

Yes, it makes a difference.

If he told her he is embarrassed for her to meet his family and friends, that's one thing and she is well within her rights to be upset with the content of his honesty and should re-think their entire relationship.

If he told her he is afraid she might be cheating on him, or that he didn't like it when she called him a f*ckhead during an argument or something, then he's got a point.
