NickP Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 When I went through a rough patch, I coped through music. I found it brought some comfort to my soul when all the pain I was going through was deafening. It healed me slowly and sometimes gave me strength. Post up any good songs/lyrics that means something to you. They can be angry, sad or empowering. This one I've selected gives me hope. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vxnl83HD3R0 Hope this empowers anyone who's lost all meaning. It will all make sense one day.
BikerBeagle Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I did the exact same thing immediately following my last breakup ...spent a weekend by myself, had my "Breakup Songs" playlist going 24-7, drinking a bit to enhance the depression, and doing menial but mentally boring chores ...then just broke down whenever I needed to. I know it sounds strange to do that, to intentionally *want* to hurt, but it helped. Seriously, I don't care how 'manly-man' you think you are ...if you are hurting, don't resist CRYING ...it truly cleanses the soul. The problem with using music to cope, though, is that all of those songs then become associated to the ex, so you will likely never hear them again without thinking of them ...or as Trisha Yearwood says, "The Song Remembers When".
alwayssme Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I heard a lot of break-up songs. Right now I like "Better In Time" and "I can't hate you anymore" Because they are about letting go... Most of the time I used to listen to songs about NOT wanting to give up, how it hurts and to make it work... Now it's time to let go
Arise_Serpentor Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 "here I go again on my own" by Whitesnake. It makes me feel like someone else is where I am at that time and i dont feel so alone!
lofi_tokyo Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 "Give my my money back you bitch" Inspirational lyrics there Nemo ;p
Gypsy_Heart Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Love Is Blind, by David Coverdale http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8__7A9tcyQs It talks about breaking up, being alone, but at the end always to try again, not giving up on love All in all, Coverdale's solo albums and old-era Whitesnake (the bluesy one, not the glam one) have a couple of very accurate lyrics about broken hearts.
ark Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 This song always gets to me, its so beautiful. I just recently broke up with my gf last week and its hurting so much I really cared for her, but it looks like she doesnt feel the same way anymore. UnamedSeven Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 "Remember When" I'm not much into Country music, I'm quite the opposite actually. One of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard of.
Lizzyb6938 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=mdcI63mr3I0 not me, not I by Delta Goodrem, very inspiring
SelfCentered Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Stevie Wonder- Isn't She Lovely Beautiful song. I'm only 20 and have no kids (that I know of...) but I can totally see why this was written about the birth of his daughter. And the harmonica parts are spot on. And... Bowling for Soup- The Last Rock Show A total jump from Stevie Wonder I'll admit. This short tune just makes me want to jump around and raise havoc. It's a "get out there and live" song. 'Cause if we're going out, we're going out with style So we all jump around and we fall to the ground Like it's the last rock show of our lives http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zbkeG-_b6-w If I die young anytime soon (god forbid), this has to be played at my funeral.
Jamez123 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 WELL I WONDER BY THE SMITHS: Well I wonder Do you hear me when you sleep ? I hoarsely cry Why ... Well I wonder Do you see me when we pass ? I half die ... Why ... Please keep me in mind Please keep me in mind Gasping - but somehow still alive This is the fierce last stand of all I am Gasping - dying - but somehow still alive This is the final stand of all I am Please keep me in mind Well I wonder Well I wonder Please keep me in mind Keep me in mind Keep me in mind AND, LOVE LETTER by NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS I hold this letter in my hand A plea, a petition, a kind of prayer I hope it does as I have planned Losing her again is more than I can bear I kiss the cold, white envelope I press my lips against her name Two hundred words. We live in hope The sky hangs heavy with rain Love Letter Love Letter Go get her Go get her Love Letter Love Letter Go tell her Go tell her A wicked wind whips up the hill A handful of hopeful words I love her and I always will The sky is ready to burst Said something I did not mean to say Said something I did not mean to say Said something I did not mean to say It all came out the wrong way Love Letter Love letter Go get her Go get her Love Letter Love letter Go tell her Go tell her Rain your kisses down upon me Rain your kisses down in storms And for all who'll come before me In your slowly fading forms I'm going out of my mind Will leave me standing in The rain with a letter and a prayer Whispered on the wind Come back to me Come back to me O baby please come back to me
