SoulSearch_CO Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 So I met a guy and we exchanged numbers. He told me I could call anytime to chat if I get bored or want to hang out or whatever. I am SO insanely shy about making the first move with a phone call - I worry about awkward silences on the phone. I'd rather hang with someone in person. Anyway...all that aside, I didn't date much when I WAS dating and the last time I WAS dating was 6 years ago. (Just got divorced this past year) So...um...SHOULD I make the first call? He did show a good amount of interest, so I'm hoping he calls me first just to break the ice. And IF I were to call him, how long should I wait before calling? Do I look too forward if I call first? The way I was raised, the guy should be the pursuer. I just don't know...any ideas? Hints? LOL
sid3 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 He should be the one calling first IMO. His telling you that you could call kinda gets him off the hook with making the first call. I think you should wait and see if he calls you first. Just like the first kiss, calling is the man's role.
monkey00 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Well it's up to you. Sounds to me like he's taking a casual approach to this. Some guys can be shy too, too shy to call a girl. I think if you're interested I don't see any harm in calling. For all you know you could wait and he'll never call.
likestolaugh Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 write down a list of things to talk about. if there's a lull then look at the list...
Author SoulSearch_CO Posted November 2, 2008 Author Posted November 2, 2008 Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm not worried if he never calls me - his loss if he doesn't. And he did NOT strike me as the shy type. This is now the third time I've seen him and he's always chatting up people. He told me he'd give me a call sometime so we could go tear it up on the mountain (ski/snowboard), or maybe he'd drop by my work with some coffee (I work graves). So I'll just sit by and be patient. Like I say - if he doesn't call, no biggie. There are other fish out there.
