I've known my gf for 2.5 years. We dated in the beginning, ended things, and have been going strong now for almost 9 months. I don't do jewelry often but she is more than dropping hints about wanting something for her birthday. We've talked engagement and I can see that in our future so I'm thinking I'll stay away from a ring for now. She made a comment once that she always wanted a nice necklace she could wear daily.

Now a few things about her preferences....she likes unique jewelry, items that have a vintage style or detail to them. Also her favorite color is purple so I've been looking at a few things with amethysts in them. She will be 24 years old

If any of the ladies here could provide me with an opinion, I'd love to hear it as I'm not sure which way to go....or if any of these are real options

Sorry, I tried posting the pictures as well as the link but can't figure that one out

I like the first one the best. I hate the one from zales with the fire of a thousand suns, and the last one is no better...that one is likely to get caught on her sweaters, silk blouses, or her hair , if it's long. The third one is ok, if she likes butterflies; otherwise, it's too cutesy.

With jewelry, simple is usually better.

Yes, she does have long hair and she adores butterflies. I think she'd like it but ultimately I'm thinking it might be too cutesy as well

And I guess I should rephrase what I said....I don't do jewelry in any relationship often (only twice in two others) so this would be the first piece of jewelry she would receive from me

I like the first two...but that's just me.

Firstly, plse be careful of "to scale" advertisements. If you take a measuring tape to the illustration of 1", it's far bigger than 1".

Of the four, I also prefer #1 but what I don't like about it, is when the hanging clasp exceeds the size of the primary gem. It looks unbalanced.

I would skip the diamond and get a larger amethyst pendant. Also, there are connotations to diamonds which I'm uncertain if you want to go there, just yet.
