PandorasBox Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Just wanted to say I'm sorry this is happening. Huggs to you, and try to stay calm and take one day at a time.

mental_traveller Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 You know he won't stop drinking, especially not just because you ask him to. So quit wasting time trying to persuade him. Accept the reality that he is a hard-drinker and then deal with it as best you can.
Author blind_otter Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 You know he won't stop drinking, especially not just because you ask him to. So quit wasting time trying to persuade him. Accept the reality that he is a hard-drinker and then deal with it as best you can. I really can't accept that kind of attitude. I had the exact same issues and difficulties myself, and I have successfully conquered my addictions. I have zero urge to use alcohol or any other drugs, and let me tell you I have dealt with some huge stressors and triggers, especially in the last few months. The truth is that many hard drinkers can and DO quit. S/O's father is a prime example, he has been sober over 30 years. Since I made that post my son's father has done pretty well in getting some help to get sober. I am proud of his work on himself, this is a new development that he hasn't pursued in the past. I remain open minded. And I gave up trying to persuade him to do anything. I was simply letting him know that he can do what he wants, but I will not tolerate certain behaviors in my life.
hotgurl Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 BO, I hope for the best and prepare for the worst. It is a positive sign that he is pursuing treatment. I will keep my fingers crossed and send out good vibes that he stays the course and is serious this time. p.s. HAve a happy Thanksgiving.
whichwayisup Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Glad to hear that he's getting help, hopefully he'll stay sober. He certainly has alot to lose out on if he continues to drink.. Hope the bundle of joy (though bigger now) is thriving and doing well!
