A few years ago, I knew a lot of girls that would partake or didn't care. Now I can't seem to meet one for the life of me! They are all chill and already have boyfriends! Dammit.

Ruby Slippers Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 How old are you? My last guy was a former pothead, and though I had only smoked a few times in high school, he got me into it, a BIT. Personally, I vastly prefer the high of weed than alcohol -- much more natural, less synthetic, and way more fun for me. We had a lot of fun with it, and I don't regret my mini stoner phase. (Stoned sex is soooo good. All the senses are on full throttle. ) But I also think pot tends to have a stronger effect on women (or maybe it's just that men are more likely to go overboard and build up a tolerance). I was very careful not to do it too often, as I felt effects from it for several days (the high into the next day somewhat, followed by a lazy, down day). And it's much more fun if you're both doing it, and a little weird if only one of you is. I think at a certain age, too much pot smoking definitely becomes associated with "loser". (I mean, for some people, it always is, but that mentality widens to more people as the user in question gets older.) It is absolutely a form of escapism, and you wonder what's wrong with the person that he has to get away from real life so often. (My ex totally rolled his eyes at this notion, of course. But he was VERY susceptible to chemicals of any kind, and easily formed addictions.) You can get away with it in your early 20s, but if you keep smoking as much as you get older, you just come off as a slacker. And that is certainly not attractive to women in that age range.

konfuzd Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Probably at home sitting in their bedrooms staring at the wall, or at a Pink Floyd laser light show. I don't care if someone smokes recreationally (I do), but to be a "stoner" is a deal breaker for me. I think someone who revolves their life around getting high, or needs to be high to have fun is a bigtime loser and a waste of time. When I date someone, I see him as a potential father of my children (no, I don't necessarily expect marriage and babies-but accidents do happen) so, I ensure that anyone I date is stable enough to be a provider, if we get to that level, or have a 'slip-up'. Cheech and/or Chong are not candidates for this role.

I love to smoke, and no my life does not revolve around it, Yes I have a job, and a car, and my own place to live, and no I have never been in jail! Am I the only girl out there like this?

blind_otter Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 The older you get, IME, the fewer people smoke pot habitually. I smoked for years, every day. I call it my "10 year love affair" I'd wager this is why you used to find a plethora of chicks who partook, and now find that there is a derth of fine ladies who inhale. But I'm nearly 30 now, and I have a baby. You can't act like a kid forever! I don't miss it at all.

I don't knock it, but I also find it hard to believe that regular pot smokers can function the same as non or recreational pot smokers after years of it. the ones who say they can have probably been doing it for so long that they don't know what it is like to NOT smoke pot so they have nothing to compare it to anymore. I always felt a little "cloudy" when I did it regularly, and that lifted not too long after I stopped.
