Bells Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 ...got it in the looks dept that is.... Gentlemen, ever see an online profile of a woman, perhaps at a glance, assumed she was your age, then turned out to see she was not only 10, BUT perhaps even 20 years older than you? Heck, there was this 62 year old I saw that, I was like "Wow". Perhaps it's because in profile photos you do not see the "up-close" facial features, so your not close enough to see wrinkles on the face nor crows feet or what have you,so maybe that's what throws some of us off. But there were rare occasions, where some women even looked rather youthful even in the face. It seems some 50 year olds are looking younger. Chances are they probably work out 5 to 6 days a week though, because othewise, they wouldn't turn heads, BUT, in some cases....they don't work out all that much...perhaps rather occasionally, or just considering taking evening walks is enough. With that said, I attribute good, lasting looks to just simply.....genetic. Is there some "Genetic Code" that allows a person to look stunning until she's 90 years old or something? Typically, what DRAWS my attention to them is their great smile....and I "chipper" look in the photo really makes them youthful as opposed to some dismayed look on their face. This one I saw had completely jet black hair...no greys (of course she could have colored it) but I think jet black hair has a propensity to do "Greying". I chatted with one recently...turns out she has never been married NOR has children....so....that kind of tells ya something there. No stress from divorce or raising children (not that it's a bad thing) I guess that keeps them young. Alot of variables to consider, but I think it's MOSTLY genetic...that some are born with a GENE that makes them look like a "babe" or "hunk" even in their "golden years". Anyone have any theories on this? I think that's why this small pool of women have a tendency to attract YOUNGER men.....ONLY because these women LOOK the same age as these younger men.
Arise_Serpentor Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 as good as an older woman looks, its hard to beat an attractive younger woman! Wrinkle free, better tone/shape, real color hair, etc.!!!
Meaplus3 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I agree with you Bells. There are lots of older woman now a days that look fabo. Infact, I'm one of them. I get placed in my late 20's all the time. NO wrinkles and leather skin here.. I take care of myself and that's the key.
LucreziaBorgia Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I do think that there are genetic propensities toward looking younger. Take Jennifer Tilly for instance. She is 50 and looks great with or without makeup. Then look at Madonna, the same age. Even with lots of plastic surgery, and working out she still looks like a skeleton draped with chunky beef jerky under her skin without her makeup. Some women can look great as they age, others not so much so.

Yeah, the one I talked to recently, is actually in a manager in a cosmetics department at a mall. I've noticed all women that work behind those counters are great looking!
flc Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 For men or women it is both genetic and hard work. If you start out looking good you can hold off aging best by eating well and working out 5 days a week. In the end though your skin will always betray you, man or women. No matter what you do skin ages and while you can still look good it never looks like it did 20yrs ago. The advantage of eating well and working out go way beyond good looks. It affects the way you feel, your self confidence and improves your whole life. All these things play a factor in your social life. I tend to find that many more people look 10-20 years older than they are based on poor lifestyle habits.
Geishawhelk Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I've been told I look alot younger rthan I am, but I think it's because i'm short, too. Maybe people figure I haven't stoppd growing yet!

I've never really seen any coverage on her though....probably because she's a B Movie actress...most of the time. The name "Tilly" is familiar....because I think of her as a "Tilly" or "she has a nice set of Tillys. Plus how many people do you know of have the last name "Tilly"? I think Fran Drescher is another one...kind of.

I've noticed all women that work behind those counters are great looking! Well now the $100 face creams that I'm sure they get a good discount on probably have a little something to do with that. But truly, a good facial cream does help. So does drinking plenty of water, regular excercise and maintaining a healthy diet. I hope to look 50 when I'm 80. All hail the older woman.:bunny: AP:)

Yeah, I've been to the gym....and I've seen older women...a butt you could bounce a quarter off of....however...they spend way too much time in the tanning booths...if you've ever notice that. Or too much time at the beach laying out.
Author Bells Posted October 30, 2008 Author Posted October 30, 2008 Oh wait....Jennifer Tilly is part Chinese...so that doesn't count The Chinese is always known to look 50 years younger than what they really are. Actually,a half-and half mix of American and Chinese makes for a awesome looking caucasion woman.

Or too much time at the beach laying out. Tanning is an art and if you do it right you can keep your skin in good shape. You don't have to end up looking like old leather. I love the beach and will be living fulltime there in a year or so. My routine is work, ride, beach, keeps me feeling young.

Actually,a half-and half mix of American and Chinese makes for a awesome looking caucasion woman. So I've been told. I wonder if dudes who are a half-and-half mix of American and Chinese get the same attention? Are they more likely to hook up with different kinds of women?
Lookingforward Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 HAHAHAHA Check out the thread on the OW board where some "person" thinks that a 65 year old gal is a "little old church lady" ho hum - some people really need to look outside their own little box - 50 is the new 30 they say
Author Bells Posted October 30, 2008 Author Posted October 30, 2008 50 is the new 30 they say Yeah, I wonder how that happened.
JamesM Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Best looking older actress at 60 years old is: Jaclyn Smith Best looking LS Poster at almost 60: Lizzie60 (or so it seems from what we have seen )
Shygirl15 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Best looking LS Poster at almost 60: Lizzie60 (or so it seems from what we have seen ) I endorse this statement.
Lizzie60 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 aaahhhh you two.. thank you I've read this thread.. and I must add that, besides genes (50%), I think the diet is also important BUT most of all.. NO smoking... NO alcool... NO sun.. that with genes and healthy food... is the KEY. Sleep is also important (at least 7 hours in my case).. the other 50% I don't exercise.. never did... I hate it with a passion.. but I don't smoke, don't drink... never go in the sun (even on the beach, I'm under a parasol).. and my mother and father always looked younger for their age.. Good moisturizers and night cream are also important. I never put foundation (make-up) I find it clogs the pores and it looks fake and cheap... I only put moisturizer and a little bit of blush on the cheek bones..
