lonelygurl Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 If you decide you want to break up with someone that you live with, how do you go about getting them to move out? The last time...gawd that sounds pathetic.....the last time we broke up he wanted to move, so I let him come with friends to move his stuff out and I left. I couldn't watch. But he ended up with some of my stuff which I don't think was by accident, which after a few months he emailed out of the blue to ask if he could drop by to give it to me and I said no. If I decide I can't take it anymore and want him to move out, do I pack his stuff and send it off or do I stay while he actually moves. This is really hard. I've been trying to keep things going but it honestly exhausting.
Author lonelygurl Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 No advice anyone? no one been through this????
BCCA Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 In my opinion, usually the person who decides to end things is the one who carries the burden of moving out. Unless there was some reason one of you need to be there more than the other (their name is the only one on the lease, it was their place first, etc). If two people move into an apartment together, and one person decides at a later time that they want to end the relationship, that person should leave. If you're staying and he's leaving, you could either pack his stuff for him or be there to watch what he takes. If you're not around, you run the risk of him 'accidentally' taking your stuff. You could even have a freind baby sit him to make sure he only takes what hes supposed to.
Island Girl Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Can't take what anymore? The relationship or are his actions the reason for the upheaval? If he is lying, cheating, disrespecting you, etc. Then he should move -- pack his stuff and have it ready (and have someone there with you to make sure it goes smoothly and fast). Just be done and move on. You are clearly VERY unhappy and when this is done you can move on with your life.
