After a bad event....: Friends made fun of attempts to converse publically

Im having a lot of trouble. I liked this girl and Im a shy guy, so I was trying to talk anyway and stuff and it was getting along well, slow but well, as in she was starting to seem ok about going out. Then this horrible thing happened. A couple people I THOUGHT were my friends, who I had known for a long time decided, it would be funny to post my attempts to converse up as titles to their pictures in the artshow. While it wasn't obvious to the entire school, it was obvious to her that they were making fun of it and it made the whole thing awkward and I have no idea what to do. Maybe I should just give up...

I personally think you should enjoy the humor and carry on. Let your friends know you are displeased and that you don't feel what they did was the stuff of friendship.
