Patty Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Im back up soaking this toe cause, I have trouble sleeping.I think I have an ingrown nail.Its been a week and I hope it gets better.I leave my socks off at night and hope it heals.Its so painful. Patty
Amazon22 Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 Patty, Ingrown toenails are nothing to mess with, you do need to go to your doctor to have it removed ASAP! I get them quite often, and they do hurt a lot! What kind of shoes are you wearing? Perhaps they are too small. There is a permanent fix to having in-growns. The DOCTOR, and I repeat DOCTOR will swab a certain type of acid onto the sides of the in-grown nail that will burn off the side of the nail permanently. I have seen it done and it really doesn't seem to hurt for more than a second or two (literally), and if done properly the after-effects are hardly noticeable. -Haley

Author Patty Posted August 27, 2003 Author Posted August 27, 2003 I did buy some fungi cure and have been trying that.I put it on once in morning and once at night.Plus I keep socks off at night to let it heal.Thanks so much for your advice. I know if I tell my mother I need to see a doctor she will freak out.We get in arguments over that.And she usually will tell me that I dont need to see one.Thats why I'm hoping this will clear up,so I dont have to tell my mother.She will say "wait to see if it gets better first" If I feel any unbearable pain,thats a sign of an emergency to me. One time I really needed to see a doctor,so I called and set up an appointment.I told her that day,not cause I wanted to tell her,but I cant drive and had to tell her,so the both of us could figure out how I could get the transportation.It cost me $29 for the taxi both ways.I dont understand it. we get in to arguments like this and she says"oh you just saw the doctor". But when this kind of thing happens,especially medical things,we start arguing.She will try to talk me out of seeing the doctor no matter how serious the problem is.It really makes me mad.But I know its the way she always will be. Author Patty Posted August 28, 2003 Author Posted August 28, 2003 Hi everyone.I went to the doctors and she looked at my toe.Then she looked at my other toe and said I had an ingrown nail on the other toe too.So she recommended me to a podiatrist,so that way they can be professionally cut so that I dont get ingrown nails.She also prescribed me on an antibiotic to drain the fluid from the toe.She was almost going to drain it herself but said it would be real uncomfortable and rather have me take an atibiotic to clear it up. I feel better knowing Im on my way to getting some relief. Patty

andrew Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 i had ingrown toenails. even had the sides removed by the doctor and they put that 'acid' on it. didn't kill the nail though. grew right back. oh well. now i've taken it like a man and just dealt with the pain until the nail grows out the end. :-D it's almost done.
