gummybear Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Met online (not in person yet) and through email we got plans to meet this Friday. His profile and our email exchanges weren't bad. But last night we talked over the phone and well ugh, I just don't like him. It's the way he talked, I can't stand it. I don't want to meet him Friday but not sure how to get out of it. I"m really bad with cancelling as you all can tell with the last guy. Moreso, I feel sick of this online stuff here. This is the second time in a row I've been wrong with someone from online. Whereas in my old city I was pretty much spot on about people from the beginning. This sucks, feeling like my judgement skills are starting to dissipate, which makes me question myself now. I'm usually good with this stuff, what the hell...

Whereas in my old city I was pretty much spot on about people from the beginning. This sucks, feeling like my judgement skills are starting to dissipate, which makes me question myself now. I'm usually good with this stuff, what the hell... I think you have a deeper problem, and the "way he talks" is an easy excuse for you to escape. I have a friend who once dated a girl for 6 months, and she really began to love him, but then he ended it. His excuse...her cats made his allergies go nuts. I called bull**** and knew it was because he was fearful to get close to someone. The cats were just an easy excuse. I think if you two had great conversations online and made plans to go out on a date, then you should at least go out on the one date and see if you still feel that way. Go with an open mind, not with your mind dead set on never seeing him again because of the way he talks. In the end you're just going to keep looking for mundane excuses to reject one guy after the next, and then complain how there's no good men out there, blah blah blah. No one is perfect...everyone has at least one thing that will be an "eh" or bother to their SO.
SushiX Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Why would you want to meet him before you even talked on the phone? I don't meet anyone unless I talk to them on phone and get to know the person. Just email him and cancel it. You haven't met so I'm sure he wouldn't care much.
Shygirl15 Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Gummy, I'm always amused by your threads, have to confess. Agree with D-Jam, your issues are much deeper.

flc Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Some people are good at writing others are good on the phone and some people are not comfortable with one or the other. I think it is silly to completely write someone off based on a single phone conversation. If you liked how he looks in his picture, found his profile and email interesting why not give him the benefit of the doubt and meet. You can't give the guy 15-30 min? Does sound more about you than him.

I'll just have to suck it up and meet with him this Friday.
All Star Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Yeah and maybe you'll like him. Are you talking about the sound of his voice?
manugeorge Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Why don't you meet him, keep an open mind, have fun and just let whatever happens happen? You never know, you may end up with a terrific friend even if it doesn't take a romantic route.
amaysngrace Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Are you talking about the sound of his voice? Yeah...what's that mean?
