They're checking my references (finally in this long process of shady-hire-intern -> perpetual intern -> full time). HAHAHAHAHAHA.

The thing is, the managers at the old strip club are always completely hammered, and I doubt they'd know wtf my company was talking about if they asked about "Spookie". No one at that place knew I left to become an actuary or whatever. I just stopped showing up (which is a better way to quit than running away after stabbing someone, for example; which is expected).

Anyway, Violet I think they'll remember... should I warn HR I went by a different name?

I can't wait for that conversation. WTF are they gonna ask about? My work ethic? (Not so good as I refused to get fingered.)

I cant offer any advice but I will say that this is one of the most interesting posts I've read since being a member.

Good luck on landing the job though; I hope all works out for you.

They're just going to verify that you actually worked there. More for purposes of doing things by the book in this case. I would mention that they might want to mention "Violet" in case your real name doesn't ring a bell.

I can never tell which job you're talking about :p

You could always call the strip club, say that you're Violet and that someone will be calling asking for a reference on "Spookie" as that's your real name.

Otherwise, I wouldn't tell HR. I've been hiring and firing for a while now and rarely call anyone to verify employment history.

would that world of employment expect you to always go by the same name? i would doubt it...

when you say fingered... do you mean fingerprinted - or actually fingered?
