You'reasian Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I need some romantic ideas for a friend whose trying to court a lady. One of the ideas, I suggested to him was to take his woman out for picnic on the beach. Keep it simple. Items to bring would include light snacks: toast/jam, crackers with nice cheese or sausage, bottle of white wine, 2 glasses, fruit and some simple flowers that smell nice. Additional items: a huge beach blanket, massage oil (after the picnic) and maybe an ipod with music that she likes.
Art_Critic Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Massage oil ?... How long has he been dating her ?
Author You'reasian Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Massage oil ?... How long has he been dating her ? Not sure, but I think she is comfortable with him in that sense?
Author You'reasian Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 I've heard some book stores that sell music will now burn CD's for you as well (for a small fee). Makes me think that he could pick her brain, say for her top 10 favorite songs and get them for her.
Art_Critic Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 One of the most romantic things I ever gave a GF ( IMO.. although I have done many ) that I was courting was a real chalkboard about 12-14 inches in size.. it was those old time kind with the wood frame... I took chalk and drew a heart with her name and mine in it and an arrow going thru it ( like the kind your drew when you were kids with the + sign between the names ) with a quick saying how much I liked being around her and how much she meant to me... The saying was about a line long and it had a real artsy artistic look to the heart... She kept it in her kitchen for as long as I knew her... Of course.. A picnic is also a romantic thing.. the massage oil is kind of weird for a picnic setting but hey.. whatever... He shouldn't go overboard and make it simple and easy...
Art_Critic Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 A Real Love Letter is also a kick ass thing to give someone... I have only written one girl any love letters.. I'll bet to this day she kept them.. There is an art to writing a love letter... I have a book on how to write one.. it explains all the right phrases to use and words that shouldn't be used... The name of the book escapes me but ?I'm sure there are tons of them out there...
Author You'reasian Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Love Letter Basic Guidelines http://www.ehow.com/how_3333_write-love-letter.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art Some other ideas: Go to the library or go online and read love letters sent from different people in history - what a great idea to learn about history, culture and old-school ettiquette (domestic and foreign) about the love letter. I like your chalkboard idea. I did exactly that for someone many years ago...
quankanne Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 best friend had a really sweet idea: Instead of giving his girl roses, he thought it would be kind of neat to send a sealed note with rose petals inside. don't think he ever got the chance to do that, because she dumped him, but I always thought it was unusual (in a good way)
Author You'reasian Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Might be a good idea to re-read one's own love letters from the past. Hopefully it will put you in a time and place where you were deeply in love with someone - that way when you write the love letter, you will be in that state
Kamille Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Tell him to never underestimate the power of good champagne. But, timing is everything in romance. Why does he feel like throwing romance her way? Is he courting her or are they falling in love? Too much romance done too soon can scare anyone away. Or maybe I'm a commitmentphobe with a taste for champagne.
Author You'reasian Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Dessert. Never met a woman that didn't like dessert. Buy each other their favorite dessert and feed it to each other...okay, a little on the sappy side, but if she's down - why not?
Art_Critic Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I have ordered gold roses before from romance her Google it...
Author You'reasian Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 Or maybe I'm a commitmentphobe with a taste for champagne. The first step is to admit you have a problem....just teasing, Kamille. I don't know his situation in great detail, just trying to come up with some ideas.
Art_Critic Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 One of the things I have never done is recycled ideas... All the romantic things I have done for my wife I have never done for anyone else.. ( except the easy flowers gig ).. It think it always preserves the feeling of romance if you only use it once.. at least it does in my eyes... I took my wife on a Trolley ride to look at the Christmas lights of Callaway Gardens last year.. fun.. Hot Chocolate and a blanket to snuggle up with while the trolley takes you thru the Fantasy of Lights... http://www.callawaygardens.com/callaway/info/things.seasons.holiday.filscenes.aspx
Kamille Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 The first step is to admit you have a problem....just teasing' date=' Kamille.[/quote'] A cocaine habit would be less expensive! I don't know his situation in great detail, just trying to come up with some ideas. I like the shared dessert idea. I'm a bit of a traditionnal girl when it comes to romance (when I'm into the guy of course...) I like flowers, letters, full-body massages (I get the masse oil idea !) My favorite moment romantic moment was when I showed up at my ex's place to find he had prepared a candle-lit dinner, complete with roses, love letter and champagne, only to celebrate how much he loved me.

What about something like a whale watch or an evening chartered dinner cruise? Assuming of course that your friend and his date are not the types who get sea sick. Just a thought. AP:)
Kamille Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Masse oil. YES. Of course who could forget the Masse Oil....sorry' date=' had to catch you on that one [/quote'] In current economic conditions, everyone gets weak in the knees thinking about masse oil! How about a simple walk on the beach, holding hands? I'm a fan of simple so I would like this idea. So far I would like all ideas mentionned here, provided they came from the right person. (I think I should start a thread about the men who tried to romance me this week...)
