I just found out that one of my friends is anorexic. Every day I tell her she's beautiful and that she doesn't need to change one thing about her. But she's just really self conscious and doesn't listen to me. Is there another way to get her to listen to me, or someone I can bring her too? It scares me when she says things like " I'm so fat!" and "i need to lose weight!" when she weighs 95 lbs. and is 5'7".

Anorexia nervosa, like bulemia and other serious eating disorders, can be fatal. One of my favorite singers, Karen Carpenter, died in 1983 at age 32 of heart failure resulting from anorexia ( http://www.hotshotdigital.com/tribute/KarenCarpenter.html ). For a detailed listing of disorders, symptoms, treatments and everything else you could ever want to know, go here ----> http://www.anred.com/toc.html Be sure your friend is under treatment. Even then, if she's not compliant with the therapy, her life could be threatened. I always thought that Calista Flockhart, the Ally McBeal gal from the old FOX TV series, was anorexic...she's like 5'6" and her weight fluctuates between 85 and 95 pounds...but they say she's healthy. I don't see how!

you can do nothing but take care of yourself and just be her friend. she will either grow out of this one day, or will die. those are the only options and you have no effect in which way she will go, so just bear in there. I had it, and luckily i grew out of it, grew up...got help. good luck
