I am dating a citizen (I am a student) and marriage is one of the possibilities.

I heard from a friend that if you get married, immigration guys would visit your house sometimes to see if you guys live together

and they might put us in a separate rooms and ask ridiculous questions

(what kind of underwear, color of tooth brush etc)

Is that true?:lmao:

I assume you are in the US.

No, that is not true.

But you DO have to go to an interview with USCIS and prove that your marriage is legitimate, that you know each other and each other's families, that you live together and have shared expenses.

He will have to prove that he can financially support you (if he can't, the two of you will need a co-sponsor), and he will have to sign that he will financially support you for the next 10 years or until you get citizenship.

You will get a 2 year Green Card at first. After 2 years you will have to file for removal of conditions. Both of you will have to interview with USCIS again, having to prove that you are still legitimately married.
