SilkLeaves Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 The last few weeks at college I've been so frustrated with myself. I keep going through the same pattern - Catching a guy's eye, smiling, then thinking 'well...what now..?' I don't seem to be making any new male friends either, and I kind of feel like I'm missing feeling special to a guy, even if it's just as a friend. I was just wondering - is there any way to make a first impression a good one? Apart from the obvious 'look good' one, as I can't make a massive effort every day . I don't seem to be great at letting go with humor when I first meet someone, so I am worried that they might think 'Oh, she's dull.' Especially when I DO have a sense of humor (even if it's a bit manic and odd) . The one guy I have met and talked to I met through a friend, who he was flirting very heavily with. And I actually quite liked him, which was very depressing. My mouth came out with some very odd things which didn't go through my brain for censorship and now he just looks at me like I'm a complete wierdo. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can make good first impressions?
CommitmentPhobe Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Yeah be yourself and don't try too hard. You don't need to try to impress people.
refurb Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Get to know people because it's who you are that makes an impression on people. That usually requires a lot of talking. RF
